'How to fix usb not showing in my computer' *usb shows up on the computer*

OMG OMG thanks my 64gb USB was not even showing in disk management I tried every tutorial in KZfaq and yours worked I just uninstalled the driver and when I remounted the USB it was showing in disk management so I just changed it to G: and now it works fine

I was making a bootable Windows 7 flash drive with Rufus and I cancelled it in the middle of the operation. It gave me a warning telling me that I could leave the drive in an unusable state but I thought that just meant I'd have to reformat it again. When it didn't show up in Explorer I thought I had bricked it. Your vid helped me recover it, so thanks for the vid. Much appreciated. Liked and subbed.

To open disk management directly. just type in run "diskmgmt.msc"

This is so much help I did this on a Windows XP home Edition and at the end of it I thought it didn't work ,but the thing you have to do is to unplug the flash drive and insert back or restart the computer ,I unplugged and insert and I was surprised it work ....Thank you so much

Fixed mine -thanks for the tutorial 👍 For some reason mine had split into two partitions so deleted both and reformatted. All ok.

That was the problem... the drive letter was missing in the list. It works now. Thanks!

2019 here and it's still working!

Recently i faced this prblm in my office.. I am checking drivers, checking updates... One old guy came just restarted the computer with that plugged in usb in cpu and then it started working....😂😂😂

I uninstalled, then scanned for hardware changes. The Icon popped up on the toolbar with a message saying installed successfully, then it disappears and I'm back where I started.

at 1:45 the usb part do not show that blue bar, i already did changed the letter, reisntalled the drivers USB ports are fine (checked) Flash Drive working fine in all other devices (except this computer)

Because mine was so far gone, none of these worked. However, what did work, was cracking open the flash drive (mine was a little SanDisk) plugging in the naked PCB that has the USB connector soldered to it, and lightly propping up the PCB with something small. (for me it was the back end of a tiny screwdriver) The little LED on the PCB lit up so I left it propped up in that exact position and was able to get the files transferred. Not saying this will work for you, but with a lot of patience and grace it was a "Hail Mary" for me.

If you've watched lots of these videos but still can't get you're USB Card Reader working I have one more suggestion. I went to my motherboard manufacturer's website (ASUS for me) and downloaded the lastest chipset drivers for my model. Bingo. I finally got it working again. It seems to be a Windows Update that caused the problem. Hopefully your manufacturer has an updated driver too.

i try both method.. but not worked for me.. my usb drive its half hidden and show me error ( please insert Removable Disk ) please help what can i do..and its show me no media file Removable Disk..

Mine work 1.go to control panel 2.click administrative tools 3.click device manager 4.click universal serial bus controller 5.click usb mass storage device right click & uninstall. 6.search click scan for hardaware change (display on top) while scanning your computer will automatically restart dont unplug the usb. 7.once restart go back computer management & click disk management. Removable still not shown. Uplug n plug in again it wilk show. & my drive have been save.. YEHHH!!!!

My usb drive says Management Basic, Won't let me assign, or explore, where my space is shown it tells me Unallocated. I can't mess with anything. Other than this, My usb is working fine.

Appreciate the tip on it was having trouble creating a USB made for windows 10 because I am not looking foward to spending more money than i already am anytime a hard drive fails, I go through hard drives like butter through a hot knife and its not good I also wanna figure that out too as well

What if it's not showing up in the device mgr under disk drives? There is no disc 1 only Disk 0 and CD-ROM 0. So it's not showing up in "computer" (only my C drive and my CD/DVD player are showing up), and it's not showing up in the device mgr at all, and it's not showing up in the Computer Management tool under "disk management". However, i was just reading a comment below by "mswinney751" he/she says: "I found that I had to go to the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" drop down, find the device there, and uninstall it. Then when I did the Scan for New Hardware it picked up the device." So, i went to the device mgr then looked under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". There are about 20 things there. When i click on them to open up their info, in the "Device Status" area, all of them say they are "working properly" -- EXCEPT for "USB Mass Storage Unit". It conspicuously has a little yellow yield sign with an "!" inside it by it's name and when i click on it the "Device Status area says: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)" Should i uninstall it and then hope it picks up the device as "mswinney751" did? Seems logical but I'm nervous about this and don't want to totally screw something up.

For those having the same issue and still can't figure it out.. If your using the mini SD card to SD card adapter? look on the side of the bigger SD card, there is a slider button, Try moving it to MicroSD!!!! Problem solved.

My USB drive won't fit into my port anymore . Do I need to pop something back in place or what ?? It just won't fit unless I hammer it in and I just won't even try that for real . Maybe something is wedged in there ??

I had a problem with my motherboard. In the BIOS's boot options the drives showed 'Disabled' instead of my USB stick. Moving the selector down using the down-arrow key and then pressing “RETURN” when it reached 'Disabled' revealed a list of options that included that 'Disabled' word along with another entry for the drive itself. So I was able to select the drive and the PC was then able to use it or boot to it.

After selecting the USB drive from computer management. It does not show "format" option on its right click. And when injecting the device to my computer is show the dialog box saying that "the directory name is invalid".

I see the drive but it won’t let me change the drive letter and paths. It’s like greyed out to where I cannot click it but I do see that there is not a letter assigned to it, it’s just blank beside the icon.

In my case the USB drive does not show up under MY PC, in Device Manager it shows as USB Device. Disabling it makes no change. In Disk Manager, it shows up as Disk 1 removable. When I try to change Drive Letter and Paths, it says that system can't find the file specified. Moving to different ports has the same results. It was working good until I formatted it. I'm using Win 10.

I tried to fix it by going through the systems options but when i click the uninstall part my computer tells me it needs to restart in order to continue the process so i restart it and try to continue how the tutorial is showing me but when i get to the top to right click on scan for changes nothing happens?

simply you can go to disk management by right click on my computer--- manage

what if it doesnt show even in the device manager or disc manager... because I tried it in other pc and there was no problem, but on mine (win7) it doesnt show anywhere... is my ontherboard too old or I need to install some drivers... or the usb is not working at all?
