Q: My Key Cap will not click down in place correctly. What's wrong?
A: If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.
Q: Where can I purchase replacement keys?
A: I usually get my keys on Ebay or www.replacementlaptopkeys.com. If you cannot find a loose key for sale, you may have to purchase a keyboard and take a key from there.
Q: I have a Key or Keys that are not working. Will this fix them?

Q: The hinge clip came apart into two pieces. How can I reassemble?
A: They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. These fit into holes on the outer clip. To see exactly how the inner clip sits in the outer clip, remove another key cap and copy the clip under it.
Q: The rubber spring came off. How do I reattach it?
A: There isn't really a good way to reattach those. They are not meant to be replaced. Best advice is try to use a small amount of glue. If that does not work, you may have to replace the keyboard.

Thank you! Fixed my NP503 using this vid after the cats managed to rip the D key off. Bought used one off ebay, retainer was a little different than original and one in video and it took some head scratching and trial and error. The pivoting inner piece hooks to the lower metal retainer. Once I got that part right it was smooth sailing.

Hello! I still have my 10 yr-old RV511 and it works well, even the kids playing Roblox doesn't seem to bug it much plus I swapped out for SSD, which certainly doesn't help it handle more open apps at one time, but it's cool how much it increased startup and other performances. However, somehow Minime knocked off the escape key cap and it's been a while since I've repaired one. Quick search found your vid and BAM! Done. Thanks for the stay on-point tutorial! Thank you ! my S letter was working badly (np355v5c), i was afraid of removing the key cap... i could take it off quite easily, i found a speck of dust was the culprit and blew it off ! I use an ENEMA PEAR to blow dust off mainboards and coolers, it's cheap and efficient, but of course it should be used ONLY for this purpose !

So I had to take off the keycap because there was a piece that broke off from inside of the laptop, and I hadn't watched the video, so I just took the keycap off, and the latch thing is stuck to the keycap, is there a way to take it off or attach it with it stuck to the keycap? Update, I got them separated, but the keycap won't fit in?

Well sir, I took my thin card and slid it about a third of the way under the right side of the key and pried up very lightly, pulled it out, and they key is now working. So that was a cure in itself - not sure why. The key does not feel any different, but now just types once. Thank you for helping fix my Samsung Yoga - I have the old style with windows 10 and a real piano hinge and really don't want to give it up!

If any component of the key assembly breaks, the key will not function correctly. It must be replaced. I usually get my keys on Ebay or www.laptopkeys.com/. If you cannot find a loose key for sale, you may have to purchase a keyboard and take a key from there.

Did the Retainer Clip break or did it just come apart in two? If it just came apart in two, They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. @PC Monkey nothing is wrong with keys physically just when I take key off I touched the plastic ball button and nothing happened no letter on screen.

There isn't really a good way to reattach those. They are not meant to be replaced. Best advice is try to use a small amount of glue. If that does not work, you may have to replace the keyboard.

@@PC_Monkey Well the problem is that both the number 'Nine' keys on my numpad as well as the alphanumeric pad and the backwards arrow key are not working. So is this a problem with my laptop keypad or some software issue? I managed to reattach the rubber piece but I could not check if it was working or not. My laptop brand and model: SAMSUNG NP305E5Z.
