LFC#54 - Samsung RV511 KB Swap

Keyboard replacements are usually a two-minute job that I don't bother filming, but some of the Samsungs have keyboard built-into their top cases that are much more complicated to replace.
This job required a full strip down so I could practically tear out the old keyboard and fit a new one. Although it involves breaking a few dozen plastic rivet-style clips, the replacement will click back in with some patients.

Top notch demonstration. Fixed a bad keyboard and speakers all in one go. Thanks for making this video. I would have been very hesitant about removing the keyboard from the base without your "savaging" advice it to get it apart. Well done!

Samsung design team obviously don't like keyboard repairers. What a humungous pain. Cheers for the video. The NP-RV720 replacement KB is about £50 on ebay. Add say £20 labour = £70 for a poxy kb replacement. YIKES!!!!

Entire top of laptop including keyboard and track pad cost 27 quid new on Ebay. Fitting time about 10 mins. So no need for all this hassle.

WOW! You are a better man than Me. I just took in a HP 15-af113 with a keyboard / palm rest combo. I just told the customer that he would have to cough up and replace assembly.

Fantastic job overall! I'd add that you should really consider cleaning the old thermal paste off the CPU heat spreader and re-applying new paste prior to reinstalling the heatsink.

Any link I could get Italian keyboard replacement from? Also, since it appears to be difficult to find, if I buy, say a Spanish version, could I replace the key caps and make it Italian? Thank you

as a repair shop what was the easiest repair you ever encountered?

Turn it off and on again. No seriously, I 'fix' at least one thing a day by literally restarting it, people seem to have forgotten that you can actually turn stuff off, and not just 'sleep' it. Hardware wise though, loose internal cables, memory modules not fully inserted, that kind of thing does pop up now and then. Open a PC up and you see a power cable not fully inserted - push it in, bam, problem solved.
