Limp mode is the worst thing that can happen to a man

Good to the point info. My car went into limp mode, dishonest repair shop owner suggested expensive fix to fund his next vacation, I don't trust mechanics or shop owners. I paint them all with the dishonest brush.

Best explanation of limp mode I've seen on youtube. I think my problem is timing chain, rattle on cold start up. Also noticed metal shavings in my last oil cange.

Thanks for the info. It describes my problem. But now i need help fixing it. I’ve been working through all the trouble codes. On my list: pcm/tcm, cat converters, o2 sensors, evap canister, evap solenoid, evap purge valve, throttle position sensor, accelerator position sensor, clear all codes, transmission fluid, oil check… I’m left with a few options: check wiring, check timing, vacuum out the evap lines

In my SLK 320 R 170 465..2001..has this issue but only if l try to spin the rear wheels! I thn hve to reset the transmission and can drive without issues ie by taking the accelerator pedal slowly.. What could be the problem?

I have a 2012 ford Taurus replaced the throttle body and my vehicle sometimes stalls,backfires,and eventually goes into limp mode while driving no matter the speed at random,even when idling at times. What could be the problem? I’m getting throttle body codes p2104,p2107,p2110, and p2111

Limp mode can be from a small disc which contacts the brake switch falling out . I found a dime size rubber disc on my car matt . The brake lights were on and would not go off . I glued the rubber brake light disc back in place . The break lights off and truck runs like it used to. Anything puts the truck in limp mode /

I had a car that developed an error with the abs system where the brakes would suddenly lock up at random times and I'd screech to a stop. This likely happened because of a faulty anti-roll sensor which I replaced but it needed to be professionally calibrated. So I replaced the ECU and the transmission began causing errors since the ECU didn't recognize it, which ultimately sent the car into limp mode.

My van went into limp mode today. Yesterday the battery drained totally, I called the RAC today who came out and got me going. Annoyingly the engine light decided to come on saying glow plug circuit issue, and DPF soot and ash accumulation, hence the limp mode. I have been told on a facebook group that it's likely gone into limp mode due to the battery draining and messing up something in the engine management, it seems a strange coincidence why all of a sudden my van suddenly has a glow plug a DPF issue when 24 hours earlier it pulled like a train.

My truck goes into limp mode "randomly" but throws 0 codes I think its a sensor "hopefully" Its a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500. I dont want a mechanic to tell me I need a new transmission. When its not in limp mode it drives and shifts fine.

I just got my limp mode today I accidentally over rev the car I thought I was in gear but it was in neutral. Check the codes cylinder one through four and random misfire came up before I reset the code I turn the car on and off went for a drive no issues the car drove normal after that I cleared the codes and no issues after that

So my 2015 nissan stopped accelerating, no check engine light, still powers on. We scanned it and all issues pointb to an abs sensor issue. But it could also be the transmission. I don't want to waste money fixing abs sensor for it to be the transmission, so what are the chances the abs sensor can throw it into safety mode?

Very interesting but what happens when the car shifts well from 0 to 100mph, but it struggles to go past 100mph Tachometer maximum speed is 180 mph No check engine light and no any codes, I have changed the following already. 1.clean catalyc converter 2. Put new fuel pump 3.put new fuel filter 4.new spark plugs 5.new ignition coils 6.new air filter 7. new fuel Nozzels 8.Clean transmission pan (no any metal shavings found ) 9.Clean valve body and their transmission shift solenoids 10. New Mass Air flow sensor 11. Clean camshaft and cranshaft sensors 12. Change transmission fluid 13. Oxygen sensor tested and are OK What else can be done to this vehicle??????

Try checking the battery first had 3 mechanics say transmission but it was that battery

I have a 99 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 that ive done some upgrades to and, it's been stuck in gears 2_3 unless I clear the codes then it will go from 1 2 3 but won't down shift, I also had a p0300 code and found a vacuum leak, as soon as I fixed the leak, my maf went out, my truck starts and instantly dies, is it possible that the leak kept my truck running and once I fixt the leak my engine no longer was getting proper air?

Will a damaged catalytic converter and bad O2 sensor cause this a vehicle to go into limp mode?
