Saved me buying a new washer! Took 2.5 hours. The first spring was the hardest. The wire hook was genius. Decided to recruit a neighbor for the final spring...arms a little weary by the fourth one, especially trying to clip the top holder properly. Thanks!

Excellent video. This solved my issue for sure. Innovation on what to use to help pull the new rod up...I took one of the old ones and bent it over at the spring so you have some sort of a handle. Already has a perfect hook on the other end. You also know it will fit through the hole!

Great video. This indeed fixed my banging problem on my Maytag Bravos 300. Two things I did slightly different. Instead of vise grips, I just pulled the rod with my hand and unclipped it from the holder. Second, instead of a wire I used nylon twine to pull up the hook. The twine comes off very easily. Thanks.

I can confirm this fixed my Maytag Centennial washer which had been violently banging around during the rinse and spin cycles (for too long I'm ashamed to say). I have model MVWC200XW3 and bought rods with part # W10780048 from RepairClinic. EXCELLENT video! My screws in the back were slightly different (and you need a 1/4" socket). I didn't have to remove the drain line and used jack stands to hold the front and back up. Like in the video, i used a coat hanger with the ends wrapped around a wrench to lift the rods into place. Take pictures of the plastic rod holders beforehand. I recommend doing only two rods at a time, or just one at a time if you aren't confident in your arm strength. The bounce test is on point! Drum was really loose (I'd describe it) before and bounced a couple times (didn't seem like a lot at the time). With new rods the drum firmly and smoothly resets to the level position after a push. Tested with a large load and have a smooth spin. Thanks for the video! It convinced me my suspension rods were bad and took me less than an hour!

Thank you for this! We have this exact washer purchased in 2016. In the last month, it has become insanely loud on spin cycle. Painfully loud. Came looking for a fix I can do since I've already fixed its counterpart, the dryer, before. This seems very easy to handle.

Try tightening the flywheel first to fix unbalanced load issues. It worked for me. Turn your washer on its side ( tape the lid shut to prevent it from opening and disconnect the water supply lines) Use a ¼” allen wrench to tighten the flywheel (bolt is in the middle of the round wheel) . It will be tight to turn. You can use a short piece of pipe on your wrench for extra leverage. Wear gloves so if the wrench slips you won’t hurt your hands. Hope it works🤞

Thanks for the video! My 14 y/o Maytag Bravos had gotten to the point where it couldn't even complete a cycle without throwing multiple uL codes. I was able to replace all the suspension springs from the top side, which made the repair super easy. I did need my wife to hold the tub in the opposite corner from where I was working while connecting and disconnecting. I have small-ish arms and was able to use the vice grips to pull the old rod up enough to disconnect it from the plastic bearing at the top, then let it down in the cabinet. My arm was just long enough to reach in and unclip the lower blue clip piece from the tub and just slide out the whole old assembly. From there, I reversed the process with the new assembly and was usually able to get the blue clip to attach itself on the tub. On one or two, I had to reach in and help it, but it was no problem. The vice grips were then used to pull the rod up through the hole (I didn't need the wire loop trick) and put the new bearing on. I hope anyone reading this will be able to save themselves quite a bit of wrangling and try the repair from the top first.

Yes, thank you so much. I am a 62 year old female and not very mechanical. But we got ripped off when the prior washer failed and we bought a used washer but immediately had the same problems with the new washer. So, this time I am determined to fix it myself. Your video was very detailed and told me everything I needed to know to get the cover open (warning, I did slam the damn thing on my hand and bang it up pretty badly) For the rest of the repairs, I will wear gloves. Anyways, I was able to diagnose the problem and use the link you provided to order the correct parts. Can't wait to finish fixing this thing all by my big self!!! Thank you so much!!!

Should not have these problems. Maytag went cheap the last few years. Had a 30 year old maytag that we had to replace because the tub rusted out. The centennial we bought shakes so bad it moved across the floor and pulled the drain hose out of the wall port and its only a few years old. This is the perfect example of corporate greed now days. Dollars over quality. This new hanging tub with struts is a joke. “Load sensing” is crap. I miss the old style that never had shaking issues and only took 1/2 the time. And I could choose the water level…….

Hello, my suspension rods are not bad, but my washer still shakes a lot (not unbalancing), and also squeaks like mice are chatting in there on final spin. I have a few videos on my channel to show you also, (in case you need to hear how it is like) and that would basically explain the noise better. Oh yeah, and I have a quick little question to ask you, is this a Maytag Top Loading Washer 4.2 cubic ft. model number MVWC565FW? I am assuming it is that because I can tell, as it doesn’t say “centennial” on the machine itself. As well as how “MVWC” stands for “Maytag Vertical Washer Centennial” which is why i’m guessing that is the model number.

Yeah, this is simple and cheap, however be forewarned that there's another failure that can cause these symptoms that are seldom discussed in any of these videos and that's a Stator that has cracks in it. Maytag and Whirlpool washers with direct drive motors seem to have this defect. Like many I did this repair and the washer continued its violent shaking. Then I did the bearings and seal...same thing... Wifey is now discouraged and pizzed. When I did the bearings and seal I noticed a few cracks in the stator housing. I read one or two posts on google regarding this but was skeptical that this could be the cause of the violent shaking and was reluctant to spend $200+ for a new stator if it didn't fix the problem. I removed the stator and placed it in an oven @275F for an hour to open the cracks up and afterwards used epoxy (loctite 9462) to fill the cracks when still hot. I then placed a band clamp around the stator to pull it together and let it set for 12 hours+. Wala, the washer ran like new. No shaking. This is a temporary fix and have since replaced the stator with a new one on amazon. All is right in the world now (wifey is happy again😏)!

This is my exact if not very similar model to mine in the video. It violently shakes with clothes and lightly shakes without clothes however my drum does not bounce like shown in the video, I would say it had correct resistance and returns to the top with very little bounce, Could it be something else? I do think my drum is a little off-center. Would that tell you rods as well?
@DIYRepairsNow
@DIYRepairsNow 11 ай бұрын
Yes, if it’s off-center, that means you have to adjust the legs and level the washer but if it’s being like that that means one of the shocks are bad and yes, it could be something else but either way when you have an off balance washer, you start by replacing the shocks

It looks like they replace those so we’re not sure if those are the right ones according to the part number it should be the right one but somebody else complain about it. That’s why we replace the link for the OEM ones.

So ...I've got bad banging and unbalanced during the spin cycle. But when I push down on the agitator, it's still firm and no "up & down, as though the shocks are fine. Getting error codes....shifter fault & motor fault.

You will check it the same way just put your hand all the way to the bottom push it down, and if it bounces more than once, that means is the shocks

Check the level of your washer as well…I changed out the suspension rods, no change. Adjusted the legs to get my washer level, added the four springs around the suspension rods and to the tub, and now it’s back to normal. This wasn’t too bad.

Had a well known appliance repair man in our area come by, and told me that I had other issues after running some tests, that the drive shaft and drum had issues, and the repair costs would be to high, and he explained that unfortunately the wash machines these days usually will only last around 5 years, which sounds right this one was just a month past 5 years, and that if the USA would start making them they would probably last longer, it’s also interesting to note finding another new washer of which I went with a GE ( as if it mattered ) that most brands at least at Lowe’s anyway seem to only offer a 1 or 5 year extended Warranty if you want to purchase that, so it was best not to spend a lot on my new washer, and just figure I would probably be buying a new one in another 5 years 😔☹️

My Maytag washer was shaking pretty bad- the tub was actually hitting the side. After performing the agitator push test, it was questionable whether it needed a new suspension. I installed a new suspension and double checked everything prior to putting the top back on. Performed the agitator push test again and found that it was much more firm. Put the top back on and started a rinse and spin cycle. The problem is worse. Instead of the tub hitting the side it is now slamming into the side. Took it back apart and checked everything again. Looks good to me. Obviously the firmer suspension has amplified the problem. So what could it be?

Not too clear when replacing the shocks. Do you turn the washer upside down?
@DIYRepairsNow
@DIYRepairsNow 8 ай бұрын
No, you don’t have to turn the washer upside down. Everything is from the top and the bottom you only remove the shocks. Here’s all the links and how to do it. They are different models, but is the same. Procedure in Maytag, Amana and Roper are made by whirlpool.

They can be different facts one of them is not knowing how the washer works if people read the paperwork and use the washer according to the paperwork Washer will last longer for example this new washers you need to fix the clothes around that way when it begins to wash the clothes it’s not only on one side creating an off balance load The other one is that some of them does not have an agitator and some of them have an agitator but the tub is big so people think they can put more clothes in there and they overload the washer another reason it depends on how many people lives in the house the more do you use the washer the less is going to last because it’s more useless when there’s more people it’s like when you put a lot of mileage in your car eventually thinks it will start breaking down and it’s a lot of more factors but those are the most common ones

If same issue then the balancer ring has lost its fluid. I've been looking, but I don't think that this part is serviceable, you'd have to swap out the entire basket to correct this.

Pause it after wash cycle and even them out. Then spin. Also make sure your washer is on even flooring. If not prop it up in the front some and screw the pegs down or up until the washer is solid on the ground and doesn't move when you wiggle it around.

@DIYRepairsNow

If you push the agitator down, and if it bounce more than once, you still have a shock problem If it doesn’t bounce more than once make sure all four legs are adjusted and level if it’s still shaky also, can be the drum ring kzfaq.infoWXNNfP8dpV4?feature=share but this is not common some people remove the water from the ring and it worked some people add water to the ring and it worked. You will have to drill a hole in the ring or replace it. If that doesn’t work, it will be the whole drum and the shaft and that’s a major repair and it’s not worth it
