How to Fix PS4 Stick Drift | My Most Common Ways

This is the normal procedure I usually go through when one of the households´ Playstation 4 controllers starts showing stick drift problems. Something that happens more often than I´d like. Regardless the age of the controller. Hopefully the tips in the video can help you too! ⁤

@@odjamponyexpress912 Sorry to hear that :-/ Sometimes the drift can also be caused by actual damage to the sticks, making it a lot more difficult to fix. It is possible to take apart the whole controller to try and clean the sticks from the inside, however it is a bit of a fidgy process that can also damage the controller more worst case :-/ // Chris

Hey i had a bit of a unique problem my controller was facing stick dtift for a year and i got the stick changed but after 2 weeks the stick drift is back again but yhe the problem is i cant aim properly because if it like i can turn right but when i turn the joystick ti the left its starts to slow down or hang up in the middle of the turn basically its tunr more slower theb the right side any fix

Hi! Hm, odd indeed! Hard to say what the exact cause could be. Suppose there could be something wrong the with circuitry in the controller as well causing additional problems. Other than that I would guess that another replacement would be the way to go. Or see if you can find a new or second hand controler in good condition, if that makes more sense cost wise. Hi! I haven't actually tried cleaning my Xbox controllers like this. But since it is basically just a cleaning process it is definitely worth trying I'd say! After a quick google it seems to not be an at all uncommon way to (with a little luck) get rid of stick drift on Xbox controllers too :-) Like in this guide for example: www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+Fix+Xbox+One+Wireless+Controller+Drift/150208 // Chris

Theoretically and if the issues is caused by dust and dirt, then these techniques should have a fair way of working on PS5 controllers as well :-) // Chris

Hi! Sorry to hear that. It can be that the sticks are either damaged or has accumiltated to much dirt over time. You can of course try and take apart the controller and clean it out completely (like this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oaiAiM6GsrTXg2Q.html ). However it is a little tricky. It did on the particular PS4 controller in the video. Have been working fine ever since. However depending on what has actually happened and amount of dirt etc. there are no guarantees. // Chris

Sorry to hear that :-/ Sometimes it is not fixable without really getting in underneath the thumbsticks and cleaning them out, or there´s something else causing the issue (like som electrical damage etc.) that needs to be more thoroughly repaired. // Chris
