I watch two of your videos. My laptop just switched off from nowhere. No power i watched video about static discharge, once the laptop turned screen RTC low battery screen shows up. I thought I have to purchase new laptop you saved me money.

This is 2020 June 6. Left my computer old Toshiba satellite on not on charge. Got this rtc message I was stumped I got here fixed it in 3 minutes Look mate I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Was thinking might have to buy a new computer here in Cambodia May god bless you your children grand children and great grand children.

This worked for me! Amazing, I was expecting to have to change the CMOS battery. That said - RTC error screen on boot probably indicates a bad CMOS battery though I guess? Thanks.

I have a Toshiba c55, looks just like this one. I get this every time I turn it on. I figured I needed to replace the cmos battery so I opened the laptop up and to my surprise it doesn't have a cmos battery or anywhere to put it. I'm gonna try leaving it on for a few days. Any other ideas though?

@@PC_Monkey Yes C55 has no RTC battery, so the date and time is maintained by the rechargeable battery. Incredible you have to change the main battery.

hi, great videos, my laptop is the same as yours and I've had it from September 2014. the rtc comes up a few times now and reset the time and date, I need to use laptop to my GCSE's I reckon the battery is old and needs changing. I haven't tried the leaving it on for a few days as I reckon th battery is shot. Do I just change battery and not leave it out for 15 minutes ? don't want to do the reset or will it loose all saved stuff on laptop if I remove the battery ? thanks matt.

If it keeps happening, I would just change out the CMOS Battery. They are so cheap that for me, its worth the time savings to just put a new one in.

@@PC_Monkey I have just taken laptop apart and the battery isn't in the place on your video, its a toshiba l50-b-1m. their is a small long black plastic shape which looks like a battery is sealed in with a think black and white wire coming out, also one next to fan. any help would be appreciated.

@@mattytimmins1722 seems it has not cmos battery, on board, i check out seems the technology used rtc place the cmos battery inside the main battery, which cannot be replaced by low cost

Messing with BIOS is how a lot of people mess up their computers. For now, I dont have many videos on loading other versions of BIOS. I should soon though :)

Your computer starts and it does directly to BIOS? Before your able to see the startup logo screen correct?

Hi. I am using Toshiba C55 laptop. It gives RTC Low error. Moreover battery shows just "plugged in" Replaced new battery twice. Updated windows 10. In device manager uninstalled drivers under batteries and reinstalled. Doesn't fixed so far. Appreciate your valuable feedback.

If the CMOS battery is fine, it could be a motherboard issue at this point :(

But even if its pluged in, still might be battery problem? Mine is working for 2min. then it goes "battery low" and shuts down when pluged in.

This video is referring to the CMOS battery. Not necessarily the main computer battery. Are you seeing a 'bad checksum' error? Or is the computer just turning off? If the computer is just turning off, what is the battery showing for a charge when it turns off?

If I press enter for the the date and time reset to default. Will I lose my data such as photos or other stuffs?? Because especially photos soo important for me and I don't know the results after doing this process

No. Your data is stored on your Hard Drive and is linked to your Operating System. BIOS is the base system and has nothing to do with either of those two :)

Para el modelo Toshiba Satellite L45-B, me aparece mensaje "rtc battery is low press enter to set date/time", actualizo y luego normal funciona, pero cada vez que lo apago vuelve al mismo mensaje "..." Como descartar si es la Bateria gastada (en la barra de bateria me aparece una X roja) o será la pila?.

If you get that error and have to adjust the Date/Time setting every time, then your CMOS Battery needs to be replaced. You can see how to access that here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7JparuZ1NTYg6M.html

CMOS battery do not recharge they are a coin battery it is to power the setting memory only. If you have to reset the time and date the battery needs to be replaced

I have had my Toshiba Satellite Pro since 2009 and have never had this problem, I have an external keyboard and I was pressing F2 and nothing happened. I do everything on this laptop, I don’t understand why it’s stopped working, please help!!!

The prompt says; 'Bad Checksum' error or one of the other errors in the title of this video? If so, and if the steps seen here dont help, you most likely have to replace the CMOS battery

Is the DATA deleted by replacing the CMOS battery? No. DATA is not stored on the battery. Its stored on the HDD

Changing the CMOS Battery does not reformat the hard drive. Im not sure I understand your question.

Yes, it could be a BIOS password. Unfortunately, I dont advise on bypassing BIOS passwords on this channel. You can try to replace the CMOS battery for that other warning however.

As I cannot see any under the bottom bezel, I don’t want to strip full motherboard to see if it underneath somewhere, just in case I’ll damage the motherboard. If it’s the BIOS password it’s asking me on the screen, why is that and how can be fixed? Thx

@@konanunu1980 Not all motherboards have CMOS batteries. If yours does not, then you wont be able to reset BIOS that way. Again, I dont advise on how to affect BIOS passwords on this channel.

@@konanunu1980 Yes. They may recommend replacing the motherboard, as most shops will not know how to bypass a BIOS password.

Sounds like you need a new battery. Try replacing it and see if the problem persists :)

How can you fix it without a keyboard? Say the keyboard itself is not working.

If the keyboard itself if not working, then you should first replace the keyboard. Its very hard to troubleshoot computer issues when more than one thing wrong. Usually, you need all components to do their job.

That's the wrong laptop to use for this video because these Toshiba Satellite C55 DO NOT have an internal battery.

@@PC_Monkey Setting the date in the BIOS can be done on any computer. But that does not reset the bios with an RTC low battery error when those model do not have a battery. If you have an RTC low battery error, pull your main battery and power cord. Let's see your little fix solve the problem then. It doesn't. As we all know, batteries with laptops at some point will go bad. Without the main battery, that error will remain no matter how many times you set the date in the BIOS. And you are leaving that part out.
