Thank you so much! Been dealing with exact same problem with my 2009 Prius. Even with Smart key in my pocket, car would not start, only if I put the key fob in the and brake depressed would it start. Changed the batteries in key fob, even unhooked 12v battery, still no luck. After I watched your video, I went down to Prius, pressed the reset button under steering wheel(I forgot it was there), took a couple times, but now car will start again with key fob in my pocket.. I changed my fob battery too. I've never had the 4 screws for my fob but/it's never gave a problem without them. UNDER DASH Button TOMORROW!

WOA! Thank you soooo much! Worked! But interestingly... I reset mine WITHOUT the car on. The key, which had not worked remotely, was in the cupholder. Maybe it is more about the button being out vs in, regardless of whether the car is running....

has anyone been having this problem? when this function was enabled I was killing my battery. I'm not sure if the key is just constantly talking to the car and it drains the battery. when I turned it off my battery was fine. I don't know why they have an on off function for it. maybe because of the age of the car and the technology back then?.

I hope this works; I need to try it on my daughter's car but I appreciate you showing us where it is and what to do. So button needs to be "popped" in "out" position? I'm guessing my husband's knees knocked it out of whack for our petite daughter when he went to put air in her tires. Meanwhile I replaced batteries in two fobs, ugh.

The solution: locate a button underneath the steering wheel labeled “Key”, turn your car on, press the button so it sticks out, and that should fix your key problem to open a abs turn on your car

I don't have that on a 2012 uk Prius, no button
