In this weeks fun packed episode we show how to properly anchor among the many delicate coral patches laying below most of the popular anchorages here in the Tuamotu atolls, after sailing to a more protected side of this island atoll in preparations for an upcoming storm. We also get a bunch of boat work done while sitting in an amazing spot, and after all the work is done we sit back and enjoy a wonderful evening among friends during a beautiful sunset beach barbeque bonfire party.

Great transitions through the days with the vid work guys. As you know if you get great and beautiful days and nights, rough ones have to even out the odds. The boat work always brings back memories. We always said whenever you did anything on a boat it cost a boat unit ($1000) and it was not far off.

I have to say this is my most exciting channel right now. AND, you are talking about a supply ship and fresh stuff, which of course is premium in French Polynesia, a big day for everyone ! I hope you show us if its possible to get stuff as close to the supply ship as possible ! BUT, you didn't show that part. I guess I need to make sure I'm up on my guitar and maybe find a uke. Sounds so good on the video ! Getting shots of the moon is tough and that was a great one !

Great educational video on anchor balling… or whatever it’s called. I had no idea and yet it’s brilliant in its simplicity. And it’s not like you’re in a rush and need to have a two minute operation, right? One of my favourite feelings is swimming naked. Something about the water over the body just feels right. Looks like you guys get to do that. One of natures greatest sensual experiences. Ok sure… the water looks nice too.

Its interesting, as a musician/entertainer, why there is not more music on channels like this ... I would have thought that it would be a focal point of entertainment; I have to add, I love the uke, but we are more fond of the uke tuning and fun chord progressions if you take the top 2 strings of a guitar and tune it to Uke format and get more of a full body sound.

great video, especially on the anchor buoys (we say 'boys' down here rather than 'booyees') How long a lines do you put on each buoy? I'll be using this when I'm up in the Great Barrier Reef next winter. Btw, do you really carry all those spares or did you order them in for those jobs-- I'm mighty impressed by your levels of organisation. Phil
@WEsail
@WEsail Жыл бұрын
Hey Phil thanks man- ya we have about 10m of line on each buoy but then adjust for the depth that we anchor in and how large the coral heads are below us… and ya we do carry a TON of spares on the boat, but still need to order something from time to time…

Could you explain why it is even necessary to put out more chain if it's floating?
@WEsail
@WEsail Жыл бұрын
I’d be happy to but not sure what you mean “more chain”? Basically a person anchors as normal but the section of chain closest the the boat gets the floats attached, leaving a good amount of chain closest to the anchor on the sea floor to act as a weight and keep the neck of the anchor held down so it can dig in… hope that answers your questions, please let me know if it didn’t and I’ll try again! Cheers

Clearly floating the anchor chain is important. But, so is having an all electric sailboat. A combustible engine is not green.
@WEsail
@WEsail Жыл бұрын
True, true, while we do agree to a point, it’s more important, at least at this stage of battery, solar, and electrical propulsion development, that we stress and push personal responsibilities, awareness, and to practice minimalism as much as possible… for instance, what I’m saying, is a fully electrical sailboat isn’t quite practical YET with current level of development, and it’s far more practical to be responsible with our day to day activities and minimalist our individual footprint… we have two combustion engines on VA, and yet we have used less than one tank of fuel in one year of traveling… and a person with a fully electrical sailboat would surely have to be plugged into shore power quite a lot, requiring loads of electricity from a grid that is mostly powered by burning fossil fuels, ya?
@hounddoghiker9021
@hounddoghiker9021 Жыл бұрын
@@WEsail A big commitment from those who can make it, clearly makes sense. Yet, it’s hard to get angry at someone for not floating if they have not progressed yet to that place. Sometimes the best recipe is patience and tolerance. Getting mad is never a good choice. If you really want to make an impact, always vote and always vote Democrat. The rich Republican infrastructure cares not if people die let alone fish and coral.

Hi guys, let me summarize this charming episode; a beautiful sunset leads to a romantic night, and a beautiful morning of the next day reminds Waren that WE Sail also needs to be pampered, and this makes Ericka a little bit jealous! these are women as we love them.I wish I could help you Waren! Of course, your tips on preserving coral are very valuable and useful, in the hope that some who look no deeper than the surface of the water will take inspiration from them. Many kisses waiting to see you again. PS.

As I said many times BOAT = bring out another thousand. Also any boat is an ongoing project as the wear and tear on gear is constant. Apart from that boats are like women as they always like affection and being pampered so treat them well and they treat you well and that’s why we always refer to them as she or the lovely lady and don’t swear at her, otherwise!!!! 😂😂🥲 Enjoy the sailing guys and we enjoy the videos
