I watched this video 5 yrs. ago and by following all instructions the grout lines are still great. I recommend you to any of my friends that are about to tile in their homes. Excellent teacher! Thank you for all of your videos. I learn so much from you.

Superb video. I can feel the passion of the work you do thru your speech. Question... when grouting, I have much excess grout over the tile. Do you let this grout dry? When exactly do you remove this excess grout? Do you use only water for the grout preparation..? Or do you use special adhesive liquid for this (like SIKA)..?

At what point of time after grouting, do you know that the tile's grout is ready to be sponged and perfected? Is this the same time that you clean the tiles from the excess grout? What do I do if by mistake I got ahead of myself and much grout has dried?

I cover that in this video series..... If you got ahead of yourself, oh well... You may have to grind out bad grout to get perfection like you see above.

I love how hard and durable sanded grout is but with the trend of thinner grout lines being really no more than 1/8", everything is generally unsanded or fine aggregate which scratches way easier and doesn't last as long.

Is there a certain amount if time I should wait before strikiing/cleaning the newy grouted section OR should that process start right away. This would be for Saltillo Terracotta tiles.

Jen, the power is always in the question. I'll answer yours: Yes, you can. I would have asked: "Is it a GOOD IDEA to put a second layer of grout on an existing layer?" Absolutely NO.

Okay, so here's what happened. I brought the pads to the video shoot and then an ice cream truck came by with the jingling music. We stopped to get some ice cream and in the sugar coma that ensued, I just started to tape the video and well ..... you see what happened. So much for good intentions. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Oh, BTW, Morgan Fairchild is my wife....
