Does Time Machine Back up all Macbook files when connected and how do I delete old MacBook files off the computer to free up space but keep them on my Time Machine?

Hi! Yes if you set up Time Machine and you don't add exclusions (you would need to specifically add exclusions so if you don't remember doing that, then you're fine) then yes time machine backs everything up including Mac system, apps, and ALL your data. You could throw your Mac in the ocean and get a new one and restore from Time Machine and all your stuff will be there. I do not recommend however deleting stuff from your Mac in the hopes that it stays in time machine... that is not a good option for freeing up space on your Mac. Time machine eventually deletes old backups automatically when the backup hard drive starts to get full so you would eventually over time lose those oldest files. IE: You back it up today April 8th 2023. You delete the files from your Mac. In two years when your backup hard drive is almost full time machine starts to delete these oldest April 8 backups, so you lose those files.
