Is the soil needs to be moist or dry? How long do you water after you stick in the soil?

If the soil is already dry when I put them in, I’ll water thoroughly and let all the excess water drain out. If it’s still moist, I’ll wait to water. I think the soil blend is important with this as well to avoid rot. I mix my own using mainly cactus soil, a good amount of perlite and some orchid bark. This keeps the soil nice and chunky and helps avoid any rot as well

How do you make it tall and long? I bought one but is short like a bush. After purchase it I water it (it was super dry) and I just leave it at the window and in a week it bloom white little flowers and also got a little bit up but still is short. Will it grow up?

Hi, I’m so sorry for just replying, I haven’t been on here in a long time and just starting to post again🙏🏼 By now, I’m guessing yours probably grew a lot😅💗 But to answer your question still, I only water when it’s almost completely dried out because these plants thrive on neglect. As long as they are warm, get a little water and have medium-bright light, they will grow longer and eventually trail. Let me know how yours ended up doing💜🌿

Greetings Netti, I have this plant as well and tried propagating it in water and unfortunately the stems just kept rotting. Is it better and easier to just prop them in soil? Thanks

You can definitely just pop them in soil and water as normal. These are so forgiving. Just make sure you remove the lowest leaf and stick that node into the soil. I just did this recently and already getting new growth! I should have added that when I prop in water, I change the water and rinse the plant off every few days. I’ve noticed there’s a bacteria that can start growing and it’ll rot the cutting :(

@@NettiPlants thanks , I think not changing the water after a few days might be the issue. I use rooting hormone concentrate with an aerator. I have the cuttings in soil now after removing the rotted parts.

@@LoHMysticAgent apologies I just saw this comment! But that could be it. I always rinse the plant off and the jar every few days and put fresh water in. These plants in particular are so easy, you don’t even need rooting hormone 🙌🏼 Since it’s been a few weeks, how did it end up working out? I hope well!💜

@@NettiPlants greetings Netti, my cuttings in soil unfortunately rotted 😭. The stems would turn dark brown/black and work its way up the stems. If I don't catch it time then I won't be able to save the healthy parts. I have figured out the zebrina in water and greenhouse only. Once I'm able to get one or more rooted then the new growth I take cuttings from root very quickly. I still can't figure out how to get them to not rot in soil. For the nanouk my first batch of about 20 cuttings all failed except one that happened to root in my mini greenhouse in high humidity. I decided to try again and made 19 more cuttings. Out of those 19, only 8 have rooted and one rotted. They were water propagated. I also tried a few in perlite and some in soil but I caught the stems rotting. I only find the nanouk and zebrina easy to propagate once I cut new growth from them being rooted in water. I always hear how easy they are to take care of and propagate but anytime I get these plants in soil, the base of the stems start rotting with light to medium watering. I don't know why that happens since I don't overwater them.

Aww I’m so sorry to hear that!! What kind of soil are you using? Also how’s your lighting? I do put them under a grow light while propagating because I don’t have enough light in my house, maybe that’s the secret sauce? Lol For my soil I use a blend of mostly cactus soil and then mix in a good amount of perlite & some orchid bark. When I have it on hand, I also toss in a small scoop of horticultural charcoal as it helps with excess moisture. I water thoroughly once it’s completely dry
