Since it's quarantine time, I figured I would produce one more video based on how my experience went while interning at the United Nations World Food Programme. In this video, I am covering a lot of questions you guys might have had while preparing to apply for an internship or a consultancy not just at the World Food Programme, but at any UN agency. While I can't disclose much, it usually goes from a preliminary interview stage, to team interview, to a writing assessment and then another final interview depending on the role. The timeline may vary between 1-3 months based on the number of candidates they have and where you are based. Hope this helps!

Thank you for such an informative video! I wanted to ask, will they consider a 3-year student in bachelor studies even though the requirement states that the minimum is "to be enrolled in the final year". I heard that not all requirements need to be satisfied to get the internship but not sure about this case. Also, once selected, did you have any difficulties with obtaining medical insurance? Once again, thank you!

Thanks for watching! If the J.D clearly states that you have to be in the final year, then getting selected as a third year would be quite tough! In terms of the medical insurance, that is something you'd have to get it from the country you reside in. It was quite straightforward for me! Hope this helps. Good luck!

Great Question! I'd say apply as soon as you see the opening. Given the volume of applications they receive, it's always better to apply early. Remember: Start dates can often be negotiated :)

I wish I had more knowledge about what you're asking for, however, I do know that the division is always on the look-out in terms of charting new directions through established synergies to tackle challenges in communities across the globe. The internships at WFP are paid. However, they're paid enough to off-set the basic costs of living.

I'd suggest finishing at least your Bachelor's degree first :)

Good question! I'd say, it is a possibility. There are often communications, and translations opportunities that come up. More so if you speak those specific languages.

Hey Kanchan, happy that you like the content! While you certainly can apply, I'd suggest getting some stronger academic experience. At this point, you might largely benefit from volunteering with UN agencies and forging those essential networks. I'd recommend, you checkout unv.org.

Hola!This is nandini, currently doing my bachelor's degree in economics and also doing diploma in Spanish (one of the un's language) . I am doing all this so as to get an internship with unescap, HQ in Bangkok! So can you just suggest me that how can I improve my resume so as to get an assured internship there! And also, tell me if it is worthy to get an internship at regional and sub regional offices of un as there are such in India, Delhi!!

Hey! Kudos to you for following your dream! I'd say start getting as much experience as you can within the humanitarian field or the field which is your expertise. As I mention in the video, they're interested in what skills you can bring to the table, and what experience you have. Ofcourse, nothing ever is assured. However, I'd say try and get your foot in whichever office you can. It's easier to move around once you're in the system. Hope this helps :)
