I actually want to do a "DIY Ultimate RGB Battlestation" soon - something like: - Addressable RGB desk lights controlled by iCue - Same for behind monitor - or ambient lighting / reactive based on whats on the display. - Super clean cable routing for keyboard and mouse Will definitely cover what your looking for. Have a few things in the works first and not sure if i want to get a sit/stand desk for it, but is definitely in the backlog 👍

If you use the fans for the RGB setup, you can get the leds on the strip in order by using the fan orientation setting in lighting setup and rotate the fans in iCue.
@TechLens
@TechLens 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for weighing in. You can with some fans, but if you have to configure it as LL or QL fans (for more LEDs) - the LED path isn't in order. HD120s (12 LEDs) for example, would work though the fan configuration though bacuase of how the LEDs are arranged.
@pheelix-
@pheelix- 4 жыл бұрын
I will have to do some testing myself, but Corsair added a Fan rotation feature when you hover over the fans in the lighting configuration tab. When they are rotated in there it changes the LED path order on the fan. The only fans that can not do this are the non Pro SP RGB Fans.

I know this is a long shot but I’ll ask: could you make a video to specifically demonstrate how to set up non-Corsair products with the Commander Pro for example as a complete step by step guide? Would really be nice to show how it’s done in a practical way, would be nice to see also how you can configure profiles with iCue and how it reflects on these non-Corsair hardware. I just got done taking the guts of an Aurora r4 and putting it into a Corsair case. I've been working through that sister board that controls the fans and lighting trying to decide exactly how I'm going to operate Corsair fans and original Alienware Aurora LED light strips. Plus I wanted to add some of my own LED light ropes. Just went and got some fresh solder from home Depot last night and when I got home today I was going to start splicing connectors. And now I see this video and I'm torn between doing it myself and waiting for the mail. One thing is for sure though, that Corsair Icue software is amazing.. And if it wasn't for that and knowing about the lighting hubs, I would never even attempt any of that.

So I stumbled across this video because I ended up buying a random RGB led strip for my setup up. The question becomes though, can I use one of these methods to plug the RGB strip into my Commander Core that came with my Elite Capillex? I noticed you mentioned the Pro, Lighting Node Pro and fan hub, but not the Commander Core (unless this video came out before the Commander Core was released) Anyway, I am simply looking to plug my 3 pin Airgoo neon strip into the Commander Core. If that is even possible with an adapter.

The limit is not 60 LEDs (or at least it's not anymore). The only limit is the 2A one on a single channel, but you can virtually have 100s of LEDs. I think the hard cap currently is around 140 LEDs in iCue

Awesome video! I just got it working! Your video helped alot!! I have the Commander Core that came with Corsair H100i cpu cooler and has the 4 pin dupont connector. There are 6 Lian Li Bora digital case fans that have a weird 4 pin JST-sm connector that I wanted to adapt to the iCue system. This connector has all 4 wires as well but if you look at the instructions it only mentions power, ground, and data. It is a 5 volt led fan. I was hoping this 4th wire was data return. So I ordered some ali express 4 pin dupont connector harnesses, trimmed to fit and soldered on the female 4 pin JST-sm's using all 4 wires. I was very careful in wiring and made sure that I moved the signals as necessary to adapt to the Lian Li fans and plugged the data return into the unknown 4th pin on the lian li's. The lian li 4 pins swap data and ground compared to the corsair output, but otherwise similar. I put the 3 front fans on channel's 3, 4, and 5. Then the side and back 3 fans paralleled on channel 6. Well at first they didn't work. The fans didn't light up. Then I plugged around in iCue software, used the H100i icon, went into lighting setup and ran the wizard at the bottom and it works!! It detected the fans and have all 12 LED's on each channel as needed. It is also sequential too which means that the 4th wire is a data return! Awesome! Thank you!

I was kind of in a rush when I bought my motherboard, and also a bit less informed at the time, and what I bought only has 4 pin rgb headers, which is virtually useless considering what is out there now. I found a corsair node core on a craigslist equivalent but I wansn't sure because the connectors on it didn't look standard. Now I know I can use it (I can, right?)

here is some more important info if you decide to go this route beware of the AMPS. commander pro is 2A per channel but the node core is 4A per channel if your connecting devices directly without external power. For the Lighting Channel version: This will connect to a single RGB Lighting Channel on either a Corsair Commander Pro or Lighting Node Pro. If your device does not have its own power source, you need to make sure that the current draw on a single Corsair Lighting Channel is limited to approximately 2A (10W). This will come out to roughly 60 RGB LEDs, however you'll need to check the specifications of any LEDs that you connect. If you exceed the limit, you may blow a fuse in your Lighting Channel. For the RGB LED Fan Hub / Lighting Node Core version: This will connect to a fan port on the Corsair RGB LED Fan Hub or Lighting Node Core. If your device does not have its own power source, you need to make sure that the current draw on a single Corsair RGB LED Fan Hub / Lighting Node Core is limited to approximately 4A (20W). This will come out to roughly 120 RGB LEDs, however you'll need to check the specifications of any LEDs that you connect. If you exceed the limit, you may blow the capacitor in the RGB LED Fan Hub / LNC. The RGB LED Fan Hub connection will duplicate the signal to the next device on the fan hub. For example, if you use this adapter to connect a Lian Li Strimer (12 LEDs) to an RGB LED Fan Hub / Lighting Node Core on port 1 and then a Corsair HD-RGB fan on port 2 (also 12 LEDs), the Corsair fan and the Lian Li Strimer will have identical effects. In iCUE, this would be configured as a single HD-RGB Fan. Keep this in mind when configuring your lighting channels.

Very cool man. Thank you for taking the time to post this solution. I did nothing of what you explained here though. I kind of lost hope when you indicated purchase of a corsair icue hub and additional adapter. Nah man enough is enough. These rgb softwares are rubbish. starting with corsair ( and how I hate that they have to make their temp sensor connectors bulky so as to not fit in other hubs or motherboard 2 pin connections) No one wants to play nice but I get more consistency out of my asus argb headers and armory crate with the only thing I cant control being the ram from corsair. Icue still has a long way to go . Sometimes when it bloody well feels like it, it will sync my motherboard and argb headers... BUT that's Sometimes lol I will call it a good alternative to control your argb when it is able to do everything it's supposed to be able to do without the need for additional unnecessary items. For example, my friend built his pc recently but he had to buy a hub because he needed more fan headers and his motherboard did not have enough argb headers. This is where you need a hub, but someone like me that has a motherboard with everything it needs to hook up all your argb goodness and the only thing stopping me now is the software???? well that becomes a very sad day for me :( These things should be plug and play for us all 🤣 It's also been 2 years since this video posted and the icue app is still acting up on me 😨 and you are still awesome for posting this for people that are okay with buying a few extra items to achieve their goal. Cheers!!!

Can i connect a couple of Coolermaster RGB fans up to my Corsair Commander Pro using this method? the rgb connectors are the 3Pin Addressable type, not too bothered about the fan speed that's being controlled from the motherboard

Does the hub HAVE to be a Corsair hub? I have an offbrand RGB HUB which is plugged into the MB, but only my Corsair RAM is recognized. My TT fans are not. HELP 😞

Ive watched the whole video and it’s amazing the only thing I’m still confused on about are the fans . So if I use cooler master fans I’ll still need the commander pro for the speed and the light node for the rgb ?

I am not sure if I understood that 4pins concept. Do I need to plugin a corsair fan before another 3rd party, so the feedback is getting sent to the hub? If I have one corsair fan and 3 non-corsair-fans, do all three still work with the 3 to 4 pins cable?

All of your adaptors in the list are for 3-pin header on the motherboard. I have a 4-pin RGB Header on my Asus MOBO, is there an adaptor to use the LED strips connected to it this with Commander Pro?
