I have the same Syn 3 v1.0/ can you tell me how you were able to get yours to download sync 3 3.0? (Not very car tech savvy lol

@@mattmiller1867 You may be able to find a VIN that someone has shared on a forum, or if you watch closely on KZfaq videos, you can see a truck's VIN when the SYNC info screen is shown. Put that VIN into Ford's system and download the latest for that truck. If the minimum for CarPlay is 2.0, I would shoot for that, and perhaps you can upgrade as you feel necessary from there. I happened to be able to download 3.0, so that's what I did. I'm just glad it worked. The upgrade process is wonky, and seems to strangely vary from truck to truck. I was able to leave the ignition on but not running (IN A SAFE LOCATION), and the process was done when I checked on the truck 30-40 min later. I'm not aware of changes Ford made (if any) to the processing unit through the years and trim levels, but I would be very careful which VIN you use. Try to find one as similar to your vehicle as possible; minimum similarity could be year, trim, and nav/non-nav in my opinion, but that's just a guess. Also, remember to upload your successful upgrade file to Ford's system so it knows what version you now have, and you can avoid this situation in the future. Typical DISCLAIMER: you do this under your own power, and I won't be responsible for damages or repair bills due to my comment. Good luck!

Matt Miller yes! What Bryan Huber said. Also, you can go to owner.ford.com, click on the owner tab, then under support & how-tos click on SYNC software updates. This should give you more details on what you need to do. You may need a 3GB or higher usb drive in order to do the update properly. From my experience, it’s all free as well

@@WSXST I did it this weekend . I swapped the USB port and bam 💥 apple carplay … but it does have to be sync 3.0 or better to work … I’m still working on 3.4 but can’t get it to update via Wi-Fi

How did you get sync 3 version 3.0? I’m currently on sync 3 version 1.0 in my 2016 F150. I went to the owner portal to get an update but it will only let me download the same version I already have, 1.0.

Hmm🤔, check to see if your phone requires any updates, my phone will not work with it sometimes when I have an update for my iPhone. Make sure siri is turned on as well. Apple CarPlay will not work if siri is turned off. If those things do not still work, I would double check the part number you have purchased. Please ensure that your part number is the same or the most updated version (part number in description of my video). It's always recommended to purchase from the dealership in this case as other venders may send incorrect modules. Hope this helps!😁✌🏽

@@WSXST I'm not sure as I have not received any info back. However, I have heard that you must at least have Sync3 AND Version 3 or newer software for it to work as well. That's a good question. I'm not entirely sure but I believe you may have to swap out the syn2 screen/infotainment assembly itself plus the module that has the usb ports. I believe syn2 infotainment is not compatible with applecarplay at all, regardless of the screen size(I could be wrong). I'm sorry I don't have more knowledge on this but I hope that this helps a bit.✌🏽

Hmm 🤔. I would look into updating the sync system itself then. Maybe if you have the latest version of sync on the infotainment system it will recognize the updated module. I will say my sync 3 was sluggish to work with CarPlay before I updated the version then it was a lot better. But I hope this helps a bit! 😁✌🏽

Sorry to hear the delay and hesitation of the features. If it is continuing to do that I would recommend updating your sync version. You can do this by either going to a dealer or using a usb drive (I believe capable of holding 5gb or something like that) and self downloading the newer version from ford owners.com. Now my memory is foggy on the website and specific memory of the usb drive that can be used so please do your research but I believe this will definitely fix your issues. Hope this helps you out a bit! 😁✌🏽

I just noticed the same thing and started scrolling to see if anyone else had this issue. Mine still doesn't show carplay and I have SYNC 3 Version 3.0. I just read another post and did what he did. I plugged my iPhone in and the icon popped up. Good to go.

Yes, unfortunately there is no wireless integration the stock infotainment center screen. However, it may be worth noting that the newer models are starting to go wireless for Apple CarPlay. Hope this helps😁✌🏽

That is correct. The part/number is for a newer truck that is equipped with apple carplay (hence the does not fit icon). That is the hack. you can verify on the reviews of the linked product that it does have carplay integraded into the part that I linked. However, I always encourage you to do your due diligence and own research as your vehicle may need more actions than just this part replacement like, Firmware update, sync 3 and newer..etc. I hope this helps!😁✌🏽

As long as you have the bigger screen like mine(shown in video) once you update it to sync 3 it should definitely work. But it is also very important to make sure your screen is even compatible with apple carplay. If you have a smaller screen in the dash it will not work and you will have to upgrade the whole infotainment system first. Hope this helps out a bit😁✌🏽

Nathan boe yes, the version helps with compatibility when using Apple CarPlay, that’s why it’s important to update your sync to the latest version if you have the big screen dash. The part is what provides you with the ability to have Apple CarPlay. If you don’t see an option for it going through your menus once your phone is plugged to that usb than you have to get the part. Hope this helps✌🏽

You may have to use a different part number to get the appropriate usb model for you Lincoln but use the same concept shown in the video. Of course, ensure you have the sync 3 platform or later in order for it to work. Please note though, I have not researched it entirely for your vehicle. I hope it helps you out a bit! 😁✌🏽

Just to confirm you need to make sure your actual infotainment screen is compatible with apple carplay as well. This means your f150 has to have the bigger screen in the dash and not the like 3" screen some f150's come with. Next, since these manufactures are always superseding part numbers I would call the dealership back and ensure that there has not been an updated part number for some reason(superseded). Lastly, ensure your iphone has the latest update on it. I have seen some cases that the iphones will not communicate with the vehicle if it is in need of a software update. Hmm, this is a new one for me. I would try to disconnect your battery for about 5min. This will allow your vehicle to reset all computer modules. If that does not work I would next check for fuses that might have gotten blown for your infotainment system. Hope this will help you out. Best of luck!

Angie’s Barking Lot for Jasper’s Journey I would make sure that there are no further updates on your sync (if so update it). Check to make sure your iPhone has Siri enabled (will not work with Siri disabled). Make sure your iPhone has the latest software update ( sometimes communication can break due to an iPhone update). Lastly, make sure the part number has not been superseded and updated with a new part number for the USB ports. I hope this helps! 😁✌🏽
