Thank you Sandy! I tried this technique from another artist but I couldn't get it to work. Anxious to give this a try.

I know what you mean! Sometimes you need just the right combination of clay brand, thickness, time and temperature in order for it to work. There are a lot of variables, so keep experimenting!

great video Sandy ! Do you think this could be done with concrete ?
@SandyHuntress

Gosh, I have NO idea. I've never worked with concrete, but it seems like a very different material than clay.

Love it! What if I don't have a heat gun?
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 5 жыл бұрын
I saw another polymer clay artist heat up a ceramic tile in the oven. Then, handling with an oven mitt, she placed it over a sheet of clay to partially bake the upper layer. You'd have to experiment to get all the variables right (oven temp, time in oven, time on the clay) but it might work. If you try it let us know how it goes!

I dont have a heat gun and honestly, i dont want one... isnt it possible with something else?
@SandyHuntress

I've seen some artists heat a ceramic tile in the oven and then put the clay sheet on that to partially cure the outer layer. You definitely have a lot less control, but give it a try! I would imagine this technique takes a bit of trial and error, but don't they all? ;-)

wouldn’t powder on tile make it easier to remove

Often you want the clay to stick to the tile until you’re ready to remove it.
