1yr later I’m curious which direction you went with bov or not. But in my experience as long as it isn’t a factory journal bearing turbo or low quality eBay turbo it makes no difference to the life of the turbo if you have a BOV or not. Especially because dose is happening off load

Same issue on my boosted gts 4 brother, get a maffless tune or a recirc valve having lack of air past your maf on decel will stall it out due to lack of air

if its a 1j vvti then you most likely have maf sensor which is why it dies, my 2jzgte vvti used to do the same thing when i clutched in, it would flutter and then die right after if i changed gears to slow

My R32 still using MAF with no blow off valve, it stalled before I got it tuned, now it never stalls, at most you get a little dip in revs.

Get a gfb response bov, tighten the spring and plumb back just enough air to stop it stalling. Did this on my vr4 legnum(with maf) and worked.

The "pshh" is a bov (blow off valve) if you don't have a bov you get the "stutututu" It's air that's already travelling fast into the intake pipe and when you lift off the accelerator it's got no where to go, so they fit a bov it releases it or don't run a bov it will go back through the turbo and make the stututu

It can handle it. I had a stock 20det in my Cefiro and it loved to flutter. I ran no BOV and it was an 88 year old OG engine lol

I blocked my bov on an r34 turbo and had zero issues at all.

Remove your bov, stainless intake, a decent filter.

I run a full dose pipe no filter, it just depends on your financial situation, I can always get a new turbo or etc if things go bad, so people do talk shit about people like me running set ups like that but if they ain’t driving or paying for it then I guess they got nothing to say

No it does not lol 😂 but I will say one thing it does make the car run slower and work harder without a bov. Especially when dragging as it's hard to keep the boost when double clutching. Unless your running 550 hp then who gives a crap lol yes flutters sound dope bov wins races.
