This is how to get male or female flowers on your zucchini or squash plants faster..
It's normal for your zucchini and squash plants to produce male flowers at the starting..
The plants will use less energy to grow male flower first and also attract the bees..
To bring in female flowers, you must prune off two of the lower leaves. if you have 10 male flowers you must remove at least half of them. this will speed up the growing process. also increase fertilizer and calcium and continue adding fertilizer every 2 weeks to keep the plant healthy.
To bring in male flowers you will have to remove two to three lower leaves and remove some of your female flowers which is the fruit. unfortunately we have no choice. we must do this to speed up the process...

we've got one of those white PVC fences exactly like that, and I ran a pole all the way along the top (secured by the top posts). Then we strung 3x3 netting that hung down to the ground. Problem was, it got so incredibly hot that it was difficult to get climbing plants to survive. This is the first year we're not using it for that reason

I have mine(cucumber/Winter squash) weaved through a full arch of cattle panels with trees on one side and still use a shade cloth. The sun is harsh..esp here in the south!

This is very helpful. My first time growing Zucchini(Grey Zucchini from seed, in container. So. Calif. in Zone 10), so I had no reference as to what their process is. I have been getting some pollinators. I went out this morning to clip several as you show here. It makes total sense so it allows its energy to work on the main ones. It was perfect timing as a bee had come just before I finished snipping. :) Thanks for helping us newbies. For other vegetable seeds I'm getting soon, I also just picked up my Scott's 10-10-10. Appreciate all your tips!

I’m not growing squash or zucchini, but I’m doing similar with my cucumbers. And when the male flowers are spent, I just pull them off. My bumblebee friends appreciate the fresh flowers

Your welcome and sorry to hear that .. It's always good to use an organic fertilizer like a 10 10 10 or A regular all-purpose fertilizer and I will say increased the calcium.. Once the plants start growing bigger, produce the first fruit add every 2 weeks .. Just remember it's a big plant . I'm trying out squash/zucchini in 10 gallon grow bags (About 20)diluting 20-20-20 down to 10. They're teenagers atm..considering hitting them with a full dose then back off to blossom booster once they're maturish. The watering frequency is what I'm hashing out. I just hope one dose of 20 won't shock em.

It could go either way... Too much fertilizer could end up burning the plant roots.. With a 10 gallon bag and you diluted the water let's be positive. I think you got this 🌱 .. That's going to be a healthy plant for sure.. happy Friday and gardening...

I think the bees prefer the watermelon flowers because I have so many of them growing. The zucchinis are right next to them and no Zucchini yet. Time to take matters into my own hands! Thanks for the tips!

As soon as the plans start producing a male or female flower that's when I start increasing my fertilizer.... Cuz it does take some times for the fertilizer to break down to... Depends on the type you use Thank you always... Have a wonderful day 🌱

Thanks for your videos on the squash plant. Question - I accidentally clipped off the end of my romancesco zucchini harvesting. Did I just doom the entire plant? Should I pull out and start again? In zone 10a.

So sorry to hear that. If you accidentally clipped off the top part which is the growing point, it's basically the end.. If you have time I would definitely start back some new plants.. And as the plant is growing once it past about 8 in, I would start pruning to speed up the growing process

I have a large vining cucurbit type volunteer that is now long and iver my trellis. But no male or femail flowers!! Lots of leaves and tendrils, but nothing looking like fruit. Help!😊

Sorry to hear that .. Make sure the plant is getting about 8 hours of Sunlight.. If the temperature is over 85 it will stress out the plant and that could be another reason why.. Make sure to add fertilizer and keep up with your water. Make sure to water enough if the temperature is too hot.. The only thing now you could do is do a light pruning and give it up sometime...

So what to do is to increase your fertilizer and keep applying fertilizer every 2 weeks.. Try to stick to a water schedule. It's very important , Water in the morning or in the evening .. ( Water lightly do not over water ) Water every 2 to 3 days depends on the weather.. You will have to plant some flowers like lavender or sunflowers.. or any kind of flowers you have will attract bees... If your plan don't have enough fertilizer It will stress the plant out and the fruit will fall out.. If you water too much, the leaves are turned yellow. Your fruit will turn yellow and fall out before the flower even open up... You got this !! Any questions feel free to ask...There are some amazing gardeners on this channel

Oh I am sorry to hear... If you have other squash or zucchini plant you could always cross pollinate.... unfortunately the only thing you can do right now maybe do a light pruning , Remove about 3 to 4 lower leaves , and just give it time to bring in male flowers..🙏🏾🌱

Yes... ZUCCHINI plants Grow big leaf, big fruits and they could grow up to 4 ft to 6 ft expensive variety... You need good fertilizer and good water for a better production..

Parthenocarpic plants can form fruits without pollination and fertilization, resulting in fruits without seeds. This can be particularly useful in circumstances where pollinators are scarce or when there are adverse weather conditions that make pollination difficult.
