Thing is, you are placing them on foundations, instead of belts. That is why they do not connect. And as pointed in this video, only belt itself has collision with build gun. Pointing at rails of belt goes through, targets foundation and places it the same way as you would target foundation next to the belt. Good to know. Until now I either rebuilt belt or removed foundation as holding key often doesn't help to align mergers/splitters to conveyor lifts (then I just try match arrows the best I can and rebuild lift from merger/splitter).

I didn't even know you could auto-connect one to an already existing belt, incredible

sometimes the Ctrl snap doesn't work for me, and sometimes it does. can't work out the specific requirements for it to snap into alignment

EXACTLY what I have been looking for, thank you sir o7. Not sure I get the 'targeting' bit... is the targeting point the hammer icon? Did not see the track flash when you first connected.

I have this problem only with t junctions on pipes. I can't count how many times I've just had to strip junctions out
