As far as I know hard landing is a landing at or above 2.0 G force of impact. Everything below it is firm or very firm landing at best and there are occasions when you want to do a firm landing. For example snow/snow-slush or too thick water layer on the runway to avoid hydroplaning. Also in some occasions in heavy cross wind conditions. I think my worst landing with the fenix was 1.45 G with crosswind of ~15kt and around negative 350-450 f/m. But I'm not an expert, just an enthusiastic wanna be pilot who watches a lot of aviation related content plus googled the rest. PS.: I got a bootleg copy of real FCOM and FCTM docs just because of the fenix and one of them is very recent, last revision was in 2022.

I think the biggest difficulty when you land, is to really resist the desire to pull on the stick before 30 feet, given the false impression of rapid descent we have on our screens. I was used to the previous version to slightly flare earlier , given its tendency to hard land, but when i tried the update for the first time, i floated almost all the way to the end of the landing zone.
@gabor-toth
@gabor-toth Жыл бұрын
I often see on real cockpit videos that pilots move the sidestick quite a bit during landing. Maybe not as much as Boeing pilots but they still keep making inputs. I guess in real life there's always other factors, wind, turbulence or such. But it's true that the Airbus FBW system makes flying these planes extremely easy.

@@A330Driver I am not sure so I wanted to ask, does the Flight Law change right before landing? Maybe when FLARE mode is activated? I heard that it changes into alternate law. Could be complete rubbish though. That would explain the increased stick input before and during the flare

@@A330Driver so I guess this video shows much more correct real world sidestick pilot inputs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qL-JbLCSua_SdIU.html I wonder how real sidestick feels? How much force is needed to move it? Is it stiffer than e.g. thrustmaster warthog or softer?

Thanks for the info. I thought that the slower we fly (landing), the more input is required and I thought the stick input is programmed to adapt to speed (like car with drive by wire) but does not seems like it :)

Yeah well , i am probably doing it wrong :) but it is hard for me , old wiggly Logitech 3D wireless joystick + a bit muscle memory from flying PMDG so much . 🤣 but i know the theory , i have Airbus family type rating for maintenance and avionics engineers - so i am trying not to fly it like a Boeing but firm and steady .. and well sometimes it is smooth like butter , and sometimes slam like Ryanair 😊😇 so every flight is opportunity to learn and practice , and i'm glad that Fenix still improving this bird . 👌

Hi, I wanted to ask you some information about this very useful demonstration video. Your information is interesting, but in the video I noticed some actions that are not visible. After takeoff, retract the landing gear and disengage the FD for manual operation. Then use the sidestick to lower the nose and point out the small input to make the plane react. At that point on the FMA LVR CLB flashing, A/THR (blue), disappear. What happened? There is no comment. On the upper ECAM you can see the thrust indication CLB, N1 63.6% (I deduce that you set the thrust manually and this deactivated the A/THR. On the FCU the heading 234 appears (after deactivating the FD) and 5000 feet (ALT) set. Next you set the CLB thrust by acting on the throttle. Then there is the continuation of the very, very interesting video with the use of the FPA TRK. There is a difference if you use a TCA AIRBUS edition or a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog for sidestick management based on what you demonstrate in the video? Have a nice day.

For me the flight dynamics are not so great in the Fenix and it's not getting better in v2. I've only flown a real 737, but it nearly feels uncontrollable on short final. There is very little ground effect, with full flaps the engines need up to 70% N1 on short final to even keep VLS when just a little bit of correcting with pitch up (is this real world??), the nose is always coming down way too fast on touchdown as if lift just deletes itself on main gear touchdown and the FD also seems very slow in correcting glideslope when you get near-1-dot off. The systems, the sounds and everything else feel so realistic, the flight dynamics are just very weird.

I just wish more was addressed about the takeoff and landing phases, every plane on msfs suffers the exact same thing but i never see any mention of it. Dang i just want it to be better cuz once you try xp you notice the differences even though maybe a average gamer wouldn't notice it without trying out xp. So much focus on systems and textures but i wish more was put on the thing you do almost all the time.

Well that might be because this handles like a a320 with fly by wire and a 737 feels like a 737. Get used to it, that is how airbuses fly

@@animatedchristmascollector3754 Not really. An Airbus pilot and instructor tested it and pointed out to the similar flaws. And this has already been aknowledged by the Fenix-devs. They are trying to fix. But it will never be really better because of MSFS limitations in simulating dynamics.

Hello Emi, I landed on runway 06 in Edinburgh today and since this runway has a displaced threshold, I decided to go below the glide a bit as the runway itself isn't too long. I ended up at around 45' over the threshold and even though the G/S didn't seem off (as it is in Düsseldorf), it triggered glideslope warning. Would it happen in real aircraft as well or it's just an MSFS thing?
