How to Get the Sword of Marvels EARLY in Star Ocean The Second Story R! VERY POWERFUL SWORD!

The Sword of Marvels is a VERY powerful weapon for Claude in Star Ocean The Second Story R. What's great is you can get this early, as soon as Item Creation and Skills unlock about 3 hours into the game! It takes about an hour, depending on your luck with the Goodie Box. Make sure to save before engaging in any of the RNG (the bits that give random results).

Magic Clay can make UNLIMITED goodie boxes with Art skill at Lvl 4.

you can create these things yourself via "art" as well and it isnt very high level 4 or 6 if i recall. just checked, level "4" art can net you as many goody boxes as you desire, magic clay isnt really that expensive either, i made about ten or so and got a bunch of high lvl weapons early

If i remember correctly, you can also get the force sword from the box. Its also really strong for this part of the game. Make sure the person you pickpocket with has the nimble fingers orginal talent ( you can check on the status screen) it'll raise the pickpocket success chance by a lot. Orginal talents are randomly given when a new game is launched. So you can keep starting a new game until you get it, otherwise you'll have to learn it from using other talents ( like crafting etc).

force sword is only 900 attack id hold out and reset for the marvel sword

You can actually do one better and get a force sword from a goodie box, level up Alchemy to make orichalcum, level up customization, and turn Force Sword into Silvance which its default stat has 1210 ATK, 20 DEF, 99 Hit, 20 AVD, and 30 CRT.

You can also complete 10% of item Encyclopedia in Challenge Missions for a ...Goodie Box..this was actually easier than getting stealing to work

If willing to wait until after Laquer tournament just craft a Aeterna... use the goodie boxes to get weapons for other characters.

Had to farm some SP to get determination and pickpocketing up but once I got those I reloaded for about 15 minutes and got the sword.

I was able to make silvance alot of trial and error but I got one of my favorite swords :D its really good and the element is light

I must be missing something I have the thief's glove and I turned on pickpocketing but when I go to steal from the old guy it says 0% chance

@@khroxas I figured it out you've got to have Nimble fingers to increase your chances of success and you do that by creating something with crafting or machinist and you'll learn Nimble fingers

I got it with only a couple reloads, I already unlocked the box through the missions. (BTW if pickpocketing is lower than lv3 the steal chance is 0%... At least it was for me😁👍)

Glad they still have this method included in the remake. I would do this every playthrough on the original. One time I got extremely lucky and the box had the Sword of Marvel and twin lotus, a very high level sword for Ashton. Claude and Ashton were on god mode for the entire first part of the game 😂

Ashton still SUCKS bloody armor Opera end game and NEVER remove it and NEVER use the Eternal Sphere WITH Bloody armors on Claude even SOLO.

For that you NEED to make the Kaiser Knuckles for Rena first then use IT with a Meteorite for the Empressia but since Rena is still CRAP keep the Kaiser Knuckles as is and immediately give it to Bowman.

Took about a dozen tries for the goodie box at pickpocket lvl 4 and another 10-15 minutes of reloading for the drop. All in all less than 30 mins 😂

If playing with Rena as your MC, once Claude gets his later upgrade sword, would you recommend giving the Sword of Marvel's to Dias to use or have Claude customize it to the Silverance instead for Dias to use?

No the Silvance is CRAP KEEP the Marvel Sword on Claude/Dias for the ENTIRE game.

Is there any advantage to using the goodie box versus the Benefaction Card that you can find in the north of the cross continent? They both seem to use RNG so it will be a grind either way. As soon as I could travel north of Salva I got the Benefaction Card and had the Sword or Marvels about an hour into the demo version.

the "box" has all the (1000 attack) weapons for any character you want if you dont like claude then use the box for a different weapon

Actually both draw from the same ITEM pool But the Goodie boxes give out 3 items so its faster.

game is bonking mad got sword of marvels, then a few minutes in got 2nd goodie bag from mission rewards, from that in 1 roll i got sorcerer knuckles and spark whip both 1000+ atk. the end

No Mithril was NEVER on the Box/Cards list of dropped items very few alchemy material's were gotten that way IF AT all.

Yes, you have to get her the talent “nimble fingers”. You can unlock it by making her craft items using the IC menu crafting. You may have to craft several times for her to gain “nimble fingers”.
