Just a quick look on how to grease the gear box on a stihl hedge trimmer...alot of people tend to either not know it has to be done or do not think its important

I never did grease my gearbox before on my 56c. AND this year I had to buy a new Stihl blower because my other one bit the dust. I am using non ethanol gas bought at moto sports equipment dealers. Also boat owners buy this gas for their outboard motors so it is available out there. I paid $4.45 a gallon and added my Stihl 50:1 mix into it. I'll never use any crap ethanol gas in Stihl products again. I use their HS56c for commercial use. Just getting smarter as time goes along. Thanks for your tips.

Yea ..just got to make sure you put sum ethonol additive in ..or only put in as much gas as your guna do ...what i do especially with hedge trimmers is soon as om done using i put ethanol additive in ..most 2 cycle mixes now have ethonol additive in them ..i have never used ethanol free gas and i never had a problem with my stihl equipment, but you have to smart too .. thanks for watching buddy 👊👍

I have greased the head on my hl 100 because there was a fitting there. Never new to grease the handheld. Now I know how. thanks

I just dropping some love on my shindaiwa AH230S LW pole hedge trimmer, she's getting new blades and a full service. had it 4 maybe 5 years. Really good for a maintained hedge. Now my Tanaka THT 210s is will cut anything as think as a your thumb, had that since 2006 and was second hand ($200 bucks). Best machine even with the exhaust in your face design. (fail). Maintain your machines and you'll get your monies worth.

The ah230s has a grease nipple for the gearbox aswell makes it heaps easy to grease up

Don't put too much grease in there because with heat it expands so you can actually kill your gearbox seals. Also good Video!

Rubbish, it just forces its way out the nose where the trimmer blades enter the box.

Doesn't have any seals, use wheel bearing grease and put heaps in.

Great video! I don't use Stihl, but my Echo gearbox is almost identical. In the summer heat, it is not uncommon to see it taking grease weekly. I use WalMart's multi-duty grease (the magenta-colored stuff) because it doesn't dry out and can take the heat. There are better greases out there, but for the money it can't be beat IMHO.

I want to know this aswell. I have Husqvarna battery and the sales guy said to just oil the blades that's it...but now I'm worried about the gear box

Yes. Must be lubed. A gear box is a gear box regardless of electrical or Petro power.

I picked up the the stihl hs45 about a month ago. I noticed it has a plug on the side of the gear box where you add the grease. Wasn't really sure what that was for until I watched this video lol

I would not recommend honestly...not sure why you would want to .. this grease is 10$. will last for rest of your life

+Lee Parrish jr yes string trimmer Grease is not good for hedge trimmers .... the heat up at different temperatures I mean if you have to use string trimmer Greece it's fine but next time you get yourself to your dealer I would grab a tube

you could almost drill a small hole in the cover and put a grease fitting on it just make sure your warranty is up though because it will void the warranty
