This is a step by step tutorial on how to grow a White Ash tree from seed, starting with collection all the way to the final product of a sapling. White ash is a beautiful tree with a gorgeous bark pattern, distinct in its deep furrows. White ash is found all over north America and grows to a height of 50-80' and a spread of 40-50' at maturity and has a Lifespan of 260-300 years. Beautiful tree overall but sadly is susceptible to the Emerald ash borer pest that can kill this tree and is responsible for killing millions of ash trees across the US.
FURTHER SAPLING INFO: After you have a sprout with leaf development, give the tree a month or so to establish roots then transplant to a larger pot say an 8 inch wide by 10 inch deep or something similar for optimal sapling health. Then water frequently and transplant as growth increases every couple of months if adequate. If sapling is large enough for your desired planting site, simply remove the sapling from the pot and plant in the ground. Water constantly for the first couple weeks then leave it up to the tree to grow and prosper in the soil!
Research signs of the EAB and treatment methods to stay on guard against this horrid pest that can kill such a nice mature tree.
