Finally find a video that seriously gave me the details from seedling to harvest, thank you very much! I want to buy this particular seeds but still hesitating because I don't know if it will survive in my town (I live in one of the hottest city in Indonesia, an almost sea level tropical climate, with an acidic soil (ph 4,5 to 5,5)). I guess I'll just give it a try...learning by doing, trial and error, and hopefully don't waste to much money, LoL.

So glad you found the video helpful. Preppers do better in hot climate, but you might have them in a controlled area for the moisture. And the benefit of growing in pots is that you have control over the soil. So you can easily adjust the pH level as needed, if too acidic, add garden lime to the soil. I hope you will have fun growing peppers. Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

New Subscriber.... Spring/Summer 2022 was my first successful garden with growing cucumbers, Bell peppers, Okra, & zucchini. Your videos have motivated me to start again with the vegetables & flowers that failed like cabbage, lettuce, Cosmos, carrots. I am excited to also try new vegetables like baby pumpkin & egg plant. Your simple, to the point way of gardening is the way it is suppose to be, which is my preference. Thank you for past, present and future videos! 😊

@@ms.bshomestead7661 Not sure what specific issue you have with transplanting but I usually there are few things to keep in mind when transplanting: Do not transplant too soon or too late, try not to disturb roots when transplanting and most importantly harden off your seedlings before transplanting ( meaning introduce seedling to outdoor conditions gradually so they get used to those conditions before planting). Hope this helps and thanks for reaching out!

@@TowardGarden I will be using my small greenhouse this Springfor the first time and that will help with hardening off. Should I start seedling in the house then put them in the greenhouse or direct sow seedling in the greenhouse. I know I have to watch the temps in the greenhouse for the most part. Good Idea? Yes or No
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden Жыл бұрын
If you want to start in the house, I suggest to move seedlings into your green house as soon as they sprout. For the temperature, a heat mat is a great option which doesn't need too much power and it is easy to control. A very well worth investment. The main concern for seedlings to grow healthy and strong is the light, which the green house is a better option. Good luck and happy growing!!

What kind of fertilizer do you recommend? 10-10-10? and do you think there is much of a difference between Anaheim and Jalapeño when growing?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
I usually use organic vegetable fertilizer (3-4-4), or any tomato fertilizer. 10-10-10 is ok too, just make sure it includes calcium and magnesium, or or can add Garden lime to add these elements. If you see too much green and less fruits, go with a fertilizer that has lower nitrogen. As far as the process, peppers grow pretty much same. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

Hey again! Wonderful video per usual. Quick question…would this instruction be similar for jalapeños from seed also?

Hi there👋 Yes it would be similar for jalapeños. You may also use smaller pots since jalapeños plant are more compact. happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

Hello, do you recommend covering the seeds at all while they are germinating? I have seen other gardeners put a moisture covering over them while they first sprout. I want to try growing jalapeños! Thanks for a great video!
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden Жыл бұрын
I prefer to stay away form covering seed trays. Pepper seeds need heat rather than moisture for germination. If the soil is warm and moist, there is no need to cover them. To my experience, covering increases the chances of fungal disease, but maybe it works for others. Hope this helps. Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

Wow I have just found you. Your tutorials are fantastic, I live in UK, only just trying to grow some veg. My question is can I do all this without a greenhouse. Many thanks again
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Delighted to see your comment. I live in California and don't even have a greenhouse. Yes, the weather is very different in UK, but you sure can grow veg. if you grow at the right time of the year. The easiest is to follow the proper time to grow on the seed packet for your climate. If you decide to start your seeds earlier indoors, make sure to provide good source of light for your seedlings. Thank you so much for your comment and best of luck to you.😊

Hi I really liked your video and I subscribed. So, did you actually see a difference in yields of ripe peppers or even green peppers when you top pruned the young plants vs not? I could not make out how the pruned plants did? Thanks!
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 жыл бұрын
I noticed two main differences: Pruned peppers grew bigger and produced more fruits, but smaller in size (my not-pruned peppers stopped having fruits but the pruned ones keep producing fruits), and their fruit ripened with 2-3 week delay. Other than that they both have same taste and flavor. So if you want more peppers, prune them. If you want red/bigger peppers faster, leave them not pruned. My advice: If you have enough space, grow both and you will have peppers for the whole season. I hope this helps and thank you so much for visiting and subscribing!

Do you fertilize them while they are in the small pots?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden Жыл бұрын
The compost added to the soil at the time of pricking out will feed them but if you see they are struggling to grow, you can feed with diluted liquid fertilizers such as fish emulsion. Thank you for visiting.

I usually start peppers in mid Feb. to mid Mar. As a rule of thumb, start seeds when night temperature is above 50F. Since we don't have a real frost date here, you can also start in January indoors or using a heat mat in a sheltered place. Hope this helps and happy growing.🌶🌱😊
