Hey Ross, great video. Thanks for making a reply to my questions! You covered all of my thoughts about how to approach clients. I will definitely carry this information forward and apply these techniques. Again, your content is fantastic and you deserve way more subscribers. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see future videos.

Another great video, but let me share that my personal portfolio is *skimpy* also I only work with Davinci Resolve I'm a lil leary about that fact because I don't know if clients expect Adobe and Premier how do I deal with that when meeting with clients?

Hey! It doesn't matter what you use to edit, as long as your work is good! They don't really need to know what you edit on, unless you're working for a production company 💯

Hi Ross, nice video again, @13.30 you state a beginner with a basic camera can charge maybe 100 pounds a day. My question is what kind of camera would you class as basic (like 4K... G7 or GH5 or are we talking like a HD dslr camera ) just so i can understand better ? ........................And secondly if that beginner has about 4-5 videos already done on his own website and comes with a 4K DSLM camera+4 lenses, a Ronin s gimbal, motorized slider, mavic air drone, gopro hero 7 black, 10-15 mounts n grips (tripods/monopods/suction car mount/etc etc)...then what would you suggest charging as a day rate such a beginner (not a total noob beginner but say a decent startup guy). Your input will be really valuable. Thanks in advance. Just subbed, as i forgot last time :).

Hey!! Thanks for the comment dude. Sure! I'd say someone who has litany just learned to film and hasn't charged anyone yet should work on around 100 per day until they get a few clients under their belt. Most people in this position will have a basic dslr. HD camera. In the other situation, some nice gear and a bit of a portfolio, I would push closer to the 250 mark per day. The way to think of it is: if someone pays you 200 per day, then you know you're worth that at minimum. So for the next client, charge 250 per day. And keep that momentum. Of course, your type of clients will also change with time as you'll need slightly bigger businesses who can afford you. Unfortunately there isn't a straight forward rule but if you're producing good work and you've got some good gear I'd say higher day rates. I hope that helps!! Beginner with basic stuff around 100-150 per day Intermediate with mid range gear 200-300 per day Pro with really good gear, big portfolio with high end clients 600+ Then it's just filling in the gaps :)

@@RossWelch Thanks a ton Ross ! And you'd consider G7 as basic camera or even a GH5 is considered basic ? I mean the G7+Lenses+Drone etc the full gear that i mentioned above..... You'd consider that BASIC gear or MID RANGE ? or between :).
@RossWelch
@RossWelch 3 жыл бұрын
@@mgr5550 I'd say mid range 😁🔥

@@RossWelch Thanks for the useful feedback ! Oh crap sorry i forgot to ask you. The day rates you mention on the video includes editing and delivering a final video (post prod) or just the shoot day rates Ross ?

Sorry Ross ! i forgot to ask if the day rates you recommend on the video are including post prod and editing or only for a shoot day and post production is charged separate.
@RossWelch
@RossWelch 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Only for a shoot day. So I would say 100 per day filming and 100 per day editing for example. So a video project is going to cost the client around 200 🔥

@@RossWelch > Thanks again, and god bless you again for your patience. I trust and can feel that your genuinely trying to help people just by the way you communicate. Last week i offered a client a free project bec i might get a good sample for my portfolio and hes so suspicions and make me hang and hang as if hes doing me a great favor, hes the proprietor and deciding authority. I swore never to offer free, they demand more and treat artists like doormats when we offer them free.
