Hello Dr Robin, A few years ago, I had a small stroke that took my hearing from one ear and made one side of my body weak. After all the tests, while 10 days in hospital, I was told that STRESS caused the stroke.

Oh my gosh, you are such an informative, eloquent speaker! ❤. I’m a 72 y.o. HER2+ breast cancer survivor as of 11 months ago. Fortunately, at the end of my chemo last summer (but before my mastectomy) I found a local naturopathic nurse practitioner and together we followed the How To Starve Cancer protocol, which I think may have contributed to my remission status. Needless to say, I’ve done a deep dive on natural compounds and lifestyle changes I can make in order to stay cancer-free. My NP did have me do the saliva cortisol test last year and we learned that my peak is mid afternoon, but I’ve just recently I’ve begun taking Ashwaganda (which I also take as an anti cancer stem cell supplement.). Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how much I learn from and enjoy your presentations!! (By the way, perhaps you could record your talks with a bit more volume? Even at full volume with my ear buds on my iPad it’s still not very loud.)

I liked all the details regarding the effect of cortisol on our health. It was good learning but it would have been nice if the ways to manage high cortisol would have also been explained in more detail. It would be very helpful if you could make another video giving all the scientifically backed detailed steps that we can take to regulate cortisol.

Now i understand why i don't recover after workouts and sick all the time recently. Doctor Huberman does have a phenomenal channel that your's actually complete for me part of the aspects he doesn't/differently talk about.

Hi and thank you ! For many years I have competed in sports and worked out 5 days a week and worked a very physical job day to day. I’ve always been go go go !!! Now o am dealing with balancing my parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. I started wearing a CGM and noticed glucose spikes from stress, bad sleep and of course some foods. I’m trying to work on lowering my fight or flight and do deep breathing, practice being more flexible/adaptive as well as take some supplements like Ashwaganda, 5-htp as needed, glycine etc. Any good tips? Thank you so much for what you do, Doctors like you are very rare. 😉🙃 Also I go through periods were my sleep is ok and then other times when it’s not great, lately I’ve been getting up at 2:30-4:00 AM !! ❤

How would I find a lab/clinic to have the type of cortisol test that would benefit my health? I live in the State of Georgia, in the US. Many thanks.
@dr.robinlewis
@dr.robinlewis Жыл бұрын
You usually have to get the saliva test through a naturopathic doctor or functional medicine doctor. Genova labs is in the states, you could call and ask if they know of providers in your area or have more information on how to get the test in your region. 🙂

How do we prevent telomere shortening ? Some suggest astragalus and reishi mushroom prevent lengthening of telomeres.
@dr.robinlewis
@dr.robinlewis Жыл бұрын
There are many things that prevent the telomere shortening and many pertain to healthy living. Those are great options, getting adequate omega-3s, resveratrol, NAD, etc.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps it's the high cortisol at the wrong time of the day, i.e. at night that's the bigger issue.

@@dr.robinlewis Ah, sorry about that. The other factor could be that cortisol secretion drives up TSH, but the downstream energy production pipeline is clogged up resulting in high idling RPMs with no tangible results.
