Another great video Dr Lewis!! If I may can I ask for a video idea for future? I just that my girlfriend has had two diverticulitis attacks recently that seemed to come outta nowhere which seemed very painful. After, I did some sleuthing on KZfaq but I could not find much of anything useful. Most information was conflicting and vague ie some say don’t eat seeds others say yes seeds are fine or don’t drink alcohol but the er Dr at the hospital said alcohol doesn’t effect diverticulitis. I even went to the library to loan out a book on the subject and considering many people in western cultures have it there wasn’t even a book about it. Both she and I don’t really know what to do. No pressure, I just got a feeling if you did a video on diverticulitis you’d knock it outta the park and help a lot of people in the process.

Thank you! That was very interesting. Is there a specific diet that you recommend? There's a lot of contradictory information out there from veganism to carnivore. Are fiber and probiotic supplements worthwhile?

To be honest I’m a firm believer that it varies a lot on the person in front of you, but eating more fibre and less obviously inflammatory foods (processed foods, refined sugars, poor quality oils, dairy, etc.) are good principles. I think these more restrictive diets can be helpful to get you out of your old habits but they can be hard to maintain long term. Fibre and probiotics are very helpful to start but won’t maintain the results of the rest of the diet is poor.

Dr. Lewis, I've noticed that after consuming certain foods e.g. lentils, I get constipated along with gum inflammation. The problem is that I don't know how to identify the problem causing foods. I was thinking of taking IgG food intolerance test but many doctors say that it's a useless test. Please suggest me a test, I would be thankful :)

I don’t think IgG test are a waste of time at all. I did an episode on food sensitivities if you want to watch and learn more. It’s not the only food reaction that’s possibly contributing but I find IgG testing very helpful clinically.

@@nutritionist2947 I started my mom on Ivermectin and Dr. William Davis SIBO yogurt for her dementia. She has improved. Phosphtylserine is good for memory.
