Dylan, you should never apologize for trying to learn. If you have to add oil, then you are leaking oil somewhere and that should be fixed. A proper oil service is to drain the old dirty oil, new filter and add fresh oil. After awhile, the heat and friction breaks down the oil viscosity so new oil helps keep the motor in good running condition. Happy to help.

Crush washers are important. Change every time you change oil.

We will add it to the to-do list.

If it's stripped, there are ways to fix it if you have to, like a Helicoil rethread kit, but with something like an oil tank, it's probably just easier to replace the tank. They are relatively inexpensive.

A valve adjustment or your timing chain and if it’s your timing chain you best get it fixed soon or it could jump and you’ll send your piston into the valves which will toast your engine

After sitting for that long AND the dipstick is dry, I would drain and refill the oil to the proper level before you attempt to start it.

Partzilla I have a trx 250 ex '07. I don't have this oil filter cover. owned it since new. just found an oil filter I bought years ago. I must have never installed it for a reason. any clues?

The video is on a TRX400EX. The TRX250 doesn't have an oil filter. Just a strainer/screen filter that you service every 200 hours. You have to crack open the cases to get to it.

It's fairly normal with these motors, as long as it isn't knocking really hard.

Your float needle is probably stuck or has debris in it. Pull the float bowl and take a look.

No, it's not necessary to change every oil change. Add a dab of oil to the o-ring when you reinstall and inspect it for damage or cracking every oil change.

Not sure what "nut" you're talking about? You mean the drain bolt? or the fill cap? And how did you do that?

You fill the oil tank. Then fill the oil tank again.

It's better to check the level and stop when full. If you overfill, you can cause running issues.

Hi Lombardo. We recommend the GN4 for the 250ex, however, the HP4 will work just fine. It is a wet clutch, so don't use the HP4M.

thank you for the info im usuing valvoline atv 10w 40 at the moment. the old labeling on quarts said it was for wet clutch but on the new label it say formulated for wet clutch protection. does that mean its safe to use on my honda 250ex?

I figured out the problem just one more question why didn't you screw in the dip stick all the way

I did not screw in the dipstick because, on this unit when you check the oil level you just place the dip stick on top of the crankcase.

It all use the same oil trans is connected to it
