@GraftingDragonFruit

Thank you Wayne! The easiest and most successful one in my opinion would be the Cleft Graft. I find it easier to match the cambium layer this way. Some like the horizontal method as well because it’s pretty straight forward.

I have a question, that I hope you can answer. I purchased 2 Sugar Dragon cuttings on eBay. I've decided to root them in water. Do you need to use freshly cut dragon fruit to adhere to the root stock, or can you use a cutting that you received from a seller, that was cut a few weeks ago? I worry that my cuttings aren't fresh enough to use on a horizontal draft and am thinking that I should wait until they root and are more plumped up. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

Look very easy when you are grafting. I noticed you use very long pieces of tape for the graft. Is it better support of scion and rootstock using long piece of tape? Congrats on your success of original Palora horizontal graft. Waiting list for a Palora cutting in 2020 please? Mahalo, Danny
@GraftingDragonFruit
@GraftingDragonFruit 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Danny, I like to use long tape for my graft is because its easier to handle and it is secure to more surface area keeping it more secure and sturdy. It also prevents the chance of the tape getting loose because more of it is on the graft. Once you give it a try you'll know what I'm talking about. I will put you on the waitlist for a Palora cutting once they are ready.

@MrBarryyoung
@MrBarryyoung 4 жыл бұрын
The scion maintains the properties of the graft's source plant. If it is self pollinating you are all good.
@GraftingDragonFruit
@GraftingDragonFruit 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Fuzzy, you can use any rootstock to graft your scion. It wont change the genetics of the graft. The purpose of grafting is to enhance and speed up growth. The Edgar Baby will still need a pollinator even if it was grafted on a rootstock that is self pollinating.

Hi Rafael, this is totally possible! I have a rootstalks with double grafts on one rootstalks. They are growing at the same rate and very quickly. I also have been attempting to do a triple graft on one rootstalk. You can definitely do it, give it a try!
@truevision1
@truevision1 3 жыл бұрын
Hi I know I'm late to this video and comments, but I think Rafael was referring to inter-rootstock grafting, as in one as roots then another as intersection then desired graft on top. Where as you are referring to cocktail trees Richard. I too have seen a video with this technique in Latin countries. Thanks for sharing and inspiring all of us @grafting dragon fruit

Hue Tu, I have successfully grafted dragon fruits with these items: (1) clean and sharp pruning shear, (2) clean and sharp knife, (3) masking tape, (4) grocery plastic bag, and (5) jute twine string. To graft and grow dragon fruits, we do not need to have everything that Richard shows us in his videos. To remove dragon fruit spines, for example, you don’t have to buy that fancy grafting tool set. Clean and sharp kitchen knife will do the job. You have probably noticed that Richard likes to show us his fancy (and expensive?) tools. However, in my opinion, they are not all necessary. My mother used to tell us to use what we have: wish not, want not.
