This video features my favorite diaphragm call. I have bought hundreds over my 20+ years turkey hunting. This call will make all the sounds - yelp, purr, kee-kee, cut, cackle, and gobble. It does all of them - that is why I like it

@@juliusjames5577 The best advice I can give is to be determined and make adjustments till you get the sound right. Don't keep doing the same thing. it took me over 10 years to learn how to purr and I am still working on it - 20 plus more years. You can do it. Just use friction calls until you do. They work too - I know!

At the time I purchased it was part of the Sadler Mcgraw series.I believe it is called the "Toxic Orange" now. I bought several directly from Woodhaven and I did it over the phone, If you call them i believe they will be glad to confirm for you. Hope this helps.

I have a yellow "raspy ole hen" call from Flextone that does the same for me. Came in a three pack, but them other two just don't have the pitch that my raspy ole hen has. My kee kee run don't sound that nice, but you sir are the master at that call! Be careful that you don't get yourself shot. I've come close a few times. Hahaha

It was called the Sadler McGraw series. The orange color would identify it after the series name. They may have changed it so u probably should call and ask for the orange Sadler McGraw call. They will be glad to help u over the phone. They may be able to identify it by looking at the video. Be persistent - it is worth the effort. Thanks for the encouragement.

There are some good videos on how to use a diphragm call on KZfaq, The latex is in the front and you let the air go over top of the reeds. It is easy now, but I have been practicing for years. I had a strong desire that fueled my effort.I was making turkey sounds in a couple of days, and called my first bird on my first day out.My calling did not make a lot of difference, I was in a good place.I was able to make decent yelps and cutts pretty quick.Make the effort to learn - it will pay off.

Tim, when I first started trying to use a mouth call I got a couple of calls that came with an instructional audio cassette. I know that dates it. That tape encouraged the use of the word "chock", and that is what I did. I remember that it also said to use the phrase pee-pee-pee for a kee kee. I wanted to call badly so I worked hard for several days till I started sounding something like a turkey. Well, it worked because I took my first bird on my very first hunt - and I called it in myself. That was 26 years ago on the opening day in SC - where I hunted with a friend that got me started. I used that kee kee sound - I refer to it that way because it did not sound much like a real kee kee - to call one in on the opening day of NC season about ten days later. I remembered that tape saying that the gobblers would probably get with hens and if I did not connect early to kee kee to attract the hens. Since I did not hear anything on the roost, I decided to go set up in a pasture. I put out a couple of decoys, made that lame kee kee sound, and got an immediate answer. The bird was dead ten minutes later. Nowadays I could not tell you what I am trying to say when I call. I have done it so long that it just happens. I can, however, tell you that a strong desire and the word "chock" got me started. You can do it and be great at it! Thanks for the comment.

I've tried to make that high pitched purr with this call and I can't come anywhere close to making that sound do you have any tips on how you learned to make that sound. Thanks for the video and any help you can offer. Some people can yelp very well and some can purr well but it seems like you nail every call
@How2hunt

Wow, thanks for the encouragement. Honestly, it took me ten years to learn to purr with a mouth call and I still feel lacking. There was a commercial about "Ruffles" potato chips where the people would roll their tongue and say "Ruffles have Ridges.' As silly as it sounds that is what I think about every time I try to purr with a mouth call. I have included a link to one of those commercials. I hope this helps. Thanks again. I can only fit a mouth call in my mouth with a small frame. Is this a regular frame? I have tried regular frames and I about choke on them. There are very few small frame mouth calls that I have found that I like. I really like the sound of this one, you make it sound great.

Greg Stinogel Greg, this is a standard frame cal so I don't believe it will work for you. I have seen a few of the calls that you mention, but this does not fit that bill.I did a google search and found this link to a call that may be similar. It may be worth a try. Jerry please watch my video entitled "How To Hunt Turkeys - Calling." It will show you how to run a slate call. That would be the easiest and most effective way to get started. Keep practicing with a mouth call, but use a slate until you master the mouth call. Also, keep an eye on my website How2Hunt.com. I am going to be doing interactive seminars so I can help people in real time with what they are encountering while they are turkey hunting. I have some things to get in place, but want to make this happen. Holler any time u need help. Get after em! Monte
