Very useful in Thailand! You forgot to mention the "Adam's apple."

I think you have to ask the chicken what it wants to identify as and then accept it when it wants to identify as a turkey.

This is very informative! I knew a guy who did this for a living. But this is great to know, especially for those of us who can't have roosters to be sure that we only have hens.

Thank you for that wonderful information! My only question is, once you figure out who is who, do you cull the roosters? And I mean that for everyone that raises chickens, me included... I'm not sure what to do with the roosters once you know which ones they are. Do you thin the flock at that early point or what? And I mean that in a sincerely kind way. This is my dreaded question?

Thank you! I wonder if you can tell the gender of goslings and ducks? We got one gosling last year for our male geese, but not eggs this spring yet. Did we get another male?

My son threw a stick at one of our first roos. I thought he killed it. A minute or so later he was just fine. I think they have the same mechanism that opossums have.

I have a newly established Australorp flock of 16 hens and 2 roosters, haven’t decided on hatching by incubation or hen brood. I would eventually like to give away or sell excess female chicks, while keeping the male chicks for our own consumption. How reliable accurate/reliable is the feather method, the reason I ask is that a lot of the recipients of the chicks will likely be living in zones where roosters are banned by local councils.
@SurvivalHTАй бұрын
It’s very reliable if you do it without the first week. After that the feathers have grown so munch that it gets hard to tell

In your sour dough recipe you include butter as an ingredient but the video doesn’t show you adding butter. Do you add melted butter or just stick butter? Also, when in the process do you add butter? Thank you. I really enjoy your videos
@SurvivalHTАй бұрын
You can use butter, coconut oil, or any oil. I melt it but if it’s at room temp you don’t have too. Add it when you put all your wet ingredients

I’ve raised chickens for many many years, but I never knew how to sex them. I always thought you had to pick your finger in the vent or something and I didn’t want to do that. I don’t know if you have ducks and geese, but are they the same when it comes to sexing?
