I liked this video especially where Reid said toward the end about also being simple, because a long time ago when I was composing songs off a keyboard of mine a woman name Ariel I knew in EauClaire Wisconsin said she showed songs of mine to a friend of hers, who said she thought my songs were too simple sounding because they only had drums, bass and a lead instrument sound. quit enough other people in EauClaire Wisconsin liked my songs though even with three instrument sounds like that. All the people who liked them, like them also because of them sounding like me. Them people who like them felt I had found my own sound. Back then i was still only recording and mixing either back and fourth between two cassette tape decks through a 16 channel mixing board, or recording 4 track wise on a stereo reel to reel player recorder though my 16 channel mixing board. I didn't even know as much back then as i do now about recording, mixing and mastering. Now that i do know as much as I do also about mixing and mastering, I only do to my tracks and the whole mix what I think sounds like the tracks or whole mix just onlyh needs done to get the whole thing to sound the way i feel i like it to sound.

This is dope thanks Reid! How would you recommend staying in key with a remix? With chords, basslines and leads (pitch bending), perc elements all different pitches, how can you tell if everything is in key?

Jimmy Y spectrum analyzer shows you the fundamental root note a drum hit if it has a pitch. especially useful for sub bass lines, kick drums and snares.

Worth watching this one...found most of those over a long period. Topic request. So..you've found a unique sound kind of your own that makes you feel alright. Now how do find a label. I'm into progressive trance..now got a new track and realized that it sounds nothing like what Armada is putting out so far this year for example.

if you work with a hardware synth/drum setup, most of this advices are obligation ; 1) find your own sample/vst = use the same synth over and over, get to know them 2) save your channels = keep your synth plugs into your mixer 3) use less layer = you don't have an infinite number of synth so usually it's not possible to layer anyway 4) find your tempo = use a drum machine that don't have LCD display so you won't know the tempo XD
