In this video I show how to install a cooling fan bypass switch for the 1995-2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire. This will allow you to operate the electric cooling fan/radiator fan at your own control.
The instructions I followed were from Mike Holmes over at j-body.org.

Awesome video since these cars tend to run hot since I don’t think the ECU is programmed to kick in fans until 205 or 210 F.

Nice work ..Im not sure if this is bad for my toyota camry but i found by using an old cooling fan relay that was not working as it should that if you stick a plastic wedge between the two contact points that fan will kick on every time you turn on key and stop when turn off key..you do need to remove plastic cover to get to contact points.. anyway like i said not sure if bad idea or not.

you can run a wire to the heater blower and turn your heater fan on high and it will make the fan work on rafiator.

Now with your bypass here will radiator fans run as normally if you had not bypassed it? Or will this make the radiator fans run continuous / constantly as long as the vehicle has been started the fans run or only when vehicle is hot to which the fans kick in as normal like all vehicle fans are supposed to do ?

The fans should run normally when the engine reaches the normal temperature. I can also control the fan manually with the switch.

So its okay to keep the fan running continuously while you drive ?
@generationhighoutput

The switch allows you to turn the fan on if you start to see the engine temperature get above normal. I wouldn't leave the fan on continuously.

Just one stupid question. Why bother using the relay. You can wire the red one to the switch the other side of the switch go to blue wire so when you turn on the switch the fan will run

How did the repair hold up? I'm concerned about using 18g wire on a 15-20 amp fan. Did the wires heat up??

Is there anyway i could do this and just re use the cooling fan relay in the plastic box or?
@generationhighoutput

I recommend a separate relay.

can you just use the thermo switch? when you turn it on you the fan will spin and when you turn it off, it will return to automatic mode.

That is how the fan works normally. This video is for if you want to be able to control the fan manually with a switch.

Splice connectors are a bad idea! Could have stripped back a bit of wire wrapped your new wiring arround it, soldered it together then cover with liquid electrical tape....Anywho, I have a 07 pontiac G5 2.2 ecotec I have seen Temps of 212 & the fan has never come on...I found out that there is 3 relay sockets, the control socket does not have a relay in it but the socket has wiring.. then, there is cool fan 1 & cool fan 2...when I ground the top left pin of the control socket, the fan comes on but, I cannot access Hi-speed fan, just 1 speed which ever speed that is but, I have to watch my temperature constantly. I wish it ran on its own???? My a/c line is disconnected & I am wondering if the trinity or trianary switch is what is causing my issue? Or, if there is a way of rigging the trinary switch to control the fan? I do know by grounding a pin (top left pin of the control socket) the fan comes on) so, I ran a toggle from that pin...no power wires, no relays, I use the factory system with one ground wire but, it's manually controlled & YES, I HAVE LEFT IT ON & RAN MY BATTERY DEAD. I wish it was temperature controlled?
