Who would have thought, there would be a stud right in the corner. I clean and install dryer vents. while obviously it would have ben best to just direct vent it since it is on an exterior wall, the are not always on an exterior wall, so the configuration that you said is ridiculous is actually quite common. The configuration is not bad, it just needs maintained ( annually inspected by camera, and clean as needed).

I've seen runs that length in flexible slinky tube the whole way. I got my aunts dryer duct down to 7ft straight Ridgid pipe and 2 almost 90° and drying time dropped noticeably, like over 25%

Only a single brick wall, try doing the same through a nearly half metre thick old brick wall, which took nearly an hour to drill the same size hole through. Stop every 5 minutes to remove the block of brick.

For your own safety, please look up Siliconsis. When you drill through inorganic materials that create a lot of dust, there is a good chance that silica is present. You should be wearing a breathing mask and take other safety precautions to minimize or eliminate silica dust. You're clearly awesome and we all want you around to make many more videos. Safety first!

electrical surprises tend to belt people. that brick is DENSE how long did the drilling take in real time? 1715 new vent contrasts with the wall. giant dryer is more effective.

Renting a core drill would have probably been cheaper and faster than that rotary hammer bit.

@tech4pros1
@tech4pros1 3 жыл бұрын
diamond core drills and an SDS.. my 18v dewalt one can manage a 117mm diamond core bit. YOU MUST USE AN SDS WITH A CLUTCH IN IT. if you don't that core bit will catch and the drill will send you into Low Earth Orbit..
@tech4pros1
@tech4pros1 3 жыл бұрын
@@Physicsduck those kind of bits do not require hammer mode at all. they work by abrading the brick into dust, not pulverising it. diamond cores are expensive but the best thing since sliced bread for the single skin brick and block construction (modern houses, 70's onward), or solid brick (on older houses) we have here in the UK. nothing else will drill through the hell that is Taylor Wimpey no fines concrete.. (concrete with only coarse aggregate, used in UK council houses and blocks of flats)
