Great video. A mate of mine does roofs & installs these if the customer wants. He buys the bastion vents from Bunnings & hits them with a can of spray paint (misting spray) pre install & then if necessary again when installed. You can’t tell it wasn’t bought coloured from a few metres away, let alone the ground. Saves $100 per vent

Don’t silicon all the bottom in order to leave a drainage hole.

Thanks. A roof blanket would also go a long way to improving the thermal properties of the roof.

Not sure why you had to go underneath to fit the actual whirlybird vent ? Got it to the adjustable shaft then fit shaft with screws ?

The design is such that water is prevented from getting through the fins and into the turbine itself, regardless of whether it is a windy day, or the rain is heavy or light.

Hi Arvin. Don’t have such severe weather events like that where I live. Do get heavy rain & wind & had no issues.

Hi, I would like to ask a question. I already installed 1 Whirlybird. And planning to install a ceiling exhaust fan. My question is, since I already have a whirlybird at the top of our roof, is it still necessary to add a separate duct for the exhaust fan? Or is it ok to just let the whirlybird suck the hot air from the exhaust fan?

Is this hard to maintain? Does it need to be lubricated at some point to keep on spinning and will small leaves enter? Im thinking of installing one but worried about water seeping and leaves entering

The design is such that water & leaves are prevented from getting through the fins and into the turbine itself, regardless of whether it is a windy day, or the rain is heavy or light. No lubricant required unless it stops spinning when there’s wind

So how do you get to the part needing lubricant? Pull it all apart ?
