Hey, very nice and clean procedure you have followed Andrew. Have you installed an ON/OFF switch in the room for ease and accessibillity.

As a HVAC engineer as you Americans say or heating and ventilation engineer / duct fitter (known in UK). I see few things wrong (not hate). First the flexible ducting cannot be longer than 70-80 centimeters , also you have to hold the flex with a hose clamp / jubilee clips and then aluminum tape. Also minimize the 90 degree bends to the minimum if you can. That's pretty much it I believe. Other than that great job and good video !

Another great video Andrew! I would suggest using some stainless steel hose clamps in addition to the aluminum tape for connections.

Appreciate! I totally agree - I may just go back and add some since I completely forgot during the install. I think the tape will probably be fine, but having that extra security never hurts.

Looking good👍installed one years ago in basement. Used rigid pipe though, I’d use the flexible if I did it again, back in those days the flexi was crummy vinyl, I think that foil one is way better.

Good stuff! Yea I think rigid is objectively a better bet - but the ease of flexible is hard to beat. Thanks for watching!

Is there anything code wise about the vent being so close to the ground?

Looks good Andrew! I've never had such a big bit for masonry, so I drill a bunch of 1/2" holes in a circle then bust out the middle. You did a neater job! I think flex is fine for bath fan .. it just blows out humid air. Dryer vents have the whole lint accumulation issue so I think worth the extra effort to install rigid there. Thanks for sharing your work!

That works too! And probably saves you 50 bucks on a bit you will never use again lol. I totally agree - I think I’m in good shape for a lightly used bathroom exhaust fan 👍

What about the exterior hood location, Does it matter where the air blows?

Andrew, it looks like you have a rather long run of ductwork (maybe 8-10 feet?). Was wondering how well it is venting.

Pretty confident you're not supposed to use the hammer function on this diamond tipped bore saw. Drill setting only.

Idk… I’ve always had an easier time drilling through CMU or concrete using the hammer function 🤷🏼‍♂️

Empty cavities in basement 😅 I never find those usually that high up its a bond beam with rebar and most foundations especially now are completely filled, drill a small hole to confirm it isn't and you don't need to use hammer function while drilling and definitely not when starting hole, experience: doing this 5-80 times a week as a concrete cutter

Great Job EXCEPT the bird or ...... can built nest out side of pipe. Need to add accessory that close the vent out side when it is not in use and will be open when the vent blow out . Other than that it is Pro Job 😉😉😉😉.

I'd be careful, some fans specifically say avoid flexible hose (e.g. Panasonic). Looks like a dryer exhaust kit btw.

I totally agree that rigid duct is the better way to go! I didn’t see any warnings on the fan about only using hard duct so I’m hoping everything will be ok since it’s only an exhaust fan for a lightly used bathroom. Thanks for watching!

@@AndrewThronImprovements Flex pipe is fine for bathroom exhaust. There are often code requirements for dryer ducting. Typically in my area, the pipe must be rigid except the last bit of length to the dryer can be flexible.
