This is the way brick mold doors should be done. I see so many KZfaq videos about replacing rotted trim...all they do is replace rotted trim with the same and not understanding why the trim or door frame rotted. This is only overkill if you expect to significantly rework a door every 10-15 years. If you expect things to last 20+ years with little maintenance, this is not overdone.

It's important to mention that the Dupont Straight Flash VF is "Dual Sided". This video is great and very detailed. Not being familiar with the products; I had to research the flashing tapes to fully understand how the flashing was adhering to the door jambs. It's a shame that these products are not routinely used. If they were I'm sure the prices for the tapes would come down. This stuff will eventually become the industry standard and be required by the the National Building Code in time.

Justin, sounds like a retrofit with what you are describing. The examples we've shown are for new construction. Your rough openings shouldn't be that tight if you want your doors or windows to function properly. If it is new construction the brick will stop at the brick mold so the StraightFlash VF will work fine.

Doing it right is expensive for a reason

Only problem I see with this is that you taped the bottom of house wrap over door, which would trap water coming down under tyvec. I tape the two corner 45s and a couple tabs of tape to stop the tyvec from flapping in the wind until siding installed. This allows water to exit the assembly on to the surface of door/drip edge.

Great if your working with that kind of space in a brick mold situation. What happens when the R/O is tight to the bricks top and sides?

Excellent. Do you leave that release paper on the backside of the dam that you fold up so it doesn't stick to the flooring? Looks like you do; just wondering if that was intentional.
