No problem. Those splitters are typically used for external hard drives when your computer's UBS doesn't supply enough current to power the drive so I don't see why it wouldn't work to solve your issue as well. Just plug the one end into your stereo and the other end into a sufficient power source then you can just run your lighting cable from the female end.

Thank you. I agree, even though the pioneers are about as good as it gets as far as car head unit displays go they're still not up to par with some cell phone displays. I assume your iPad won't charge because your stock radio is an unsupported accessory. Apple programs a switch to deny accessories that haven't been approved from charging and communicating. If you turn the iPad off while it's attempting to charge the software preventing it from charging will be disabled and it will charge. Unfortunately the iPad has to be turned off but you won't have to remove it and charge it elsewhere. Otherwise there is no way I know of to charge an Apple Device from an unsupported source. If the issue is due inadequate power rather than an unsupported accessory then you may be able to dicect and your lighting cord and splice into an addiquate power source. I have never attempted this but im sure it would work so long as you knew exactly what wire is responsible for the charging current. You could also look for a USB adaptor that splits into a power source.

Hey Tim, I have to disagree with you, I am not sure what unit you are talking about but on the 8000nex the resolution is great. I actually switched from the NX602 to the 8000nex. The nex cost me 1200, so i am guess you did not get the 8000nex. I love this unit to death. I have had every iphone as well, expect for the 6(dont see a reason for the update yet). I do think it may be a difference in the screen resolution though.

Warren Johnson I had the 4000 NEX, and on that model compared to the iPad Mini first gen the difference the like day and night as far as the screen goes and the iPad Mini with 4G cost me $375 new and around $200 in materials. Of course I have a considerable amount of my labor to mod the dash on my truck but it looks stock and I love having the iPad Mini in the dash. It works like a normal head unit, comes on when I start the truck and turns off like the factory head unit when I turn of the truck thanks to the jailbreak. I like the Pioneer HU okay but I have to say I personally like the iPad way better. The 8000 Nex is a better HU than the one I had.

Timothy, I'm curious to know if you've solved the power issue. Have you the power data splitter yet?

Make sure you are plugged into port 1. USB port 2 doesn't work for CarPlay

The source will read iPod2 will be listed if your plugged into port 2.

Have you tried a different cord? Also if you have another iPhone? You can plug it in to rule out a problem with your iPhone itself?
