Great video. 👍 Before wiping the caulk with the finger I dip my finger in Windex, makes the smoothening even better, and caulk doesn’t stick as much to the finger.

What? get a "Duce" aka 2 gallon bucket. Fill the bottom with 2" of water. Leave your caulking gun in the bucket tip submerged when not in use. Get rags made of old t-shirts (NOT TERRY CLOTH) Dip the rag in to your water bucket and then wrap your finger and wipe. This is the method most commercial painters use. Once you make a mess of the shirt rag, use the water in the bucket to wash it and ring it out back in to the bucket. The only time you should use anything other than water is with Silicone, in that case you use soapy water and disposable rags and use a new one each wipe.

Thanks for the tips and tricks. The position of the miter degrees will make all the difference and will save time caulking since one will not have to caulk the outside corners.

At least measure to the 16th of an inch. With finish with we always measure to the 32nd, which is a heavy 16th or a light 16th. And when trying to measure from the short point of an angle, don't use the hook, burn an 1"or 10".

if the floor is not level on both sides of the wall and gaps appear underneath the baseboard, that's a whole 'nother story. test fits important. that's why i'd be a bit reluctant to commit to glue at that point.
@ronalcasid3844

Forget the tape measure. Hold the baseboard up to the wall and mark the length you need right on the trim. When you make the mitre cut a little longer you can always shorten from the other side if needed. Measuring really slows you down and there a chance for error when transferring the measurement to the work piece. It’s possible to trim a room without measuring a single thing.

I do agree and thank you for the tip. That would work if you’re doing a huge project. This was just a small section in my home and meant for beginners. Also my brand new pieces are 12’ lengths And are located all the way in my garage on the other side of my home, didn’t feel like bringing all the pieces and cutting material to the one small area, but I do understand your process! 🙏🏽👍🏽😊

I disagree with this immensely. I rarely have my saw set up inside well doing any job. sometimes I'm on the 5th floor of an apartment building, with my saw outside on ground level. I will measure out an entire house, take my measurements outside, cut all of the pieces. Go inside and fit them all, and take one more rare trip out to the saw to trim the "oopsies". Even 10 trips to the cutting station will eat up way more time than you think. If you're marking every single piece individually, walking to your saw, then walking back to install it, you're wasting precious time and energy. Learning how to properly use a tape measure, and make an accurate cut is an invaluable skill that every one should learn.

Walls are far from straight, hence why I cut 46 degrees . Also if you see there are 1/4 gaps from the baseboard to the wall. I covered those with caulk. 😅
