Underrated video here, I’ve seen Spencer Lewis and Richard from inside carpentry. I was thinking he was simply going to echo what they have done already, but no!!!! He’s added a few more details. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hello! I've been watching you for years now and using many of your tips--or showing them to my husband so he can use them on our home projects. Thank you for all of your awesome, helpful videos! At the 16:40 mark, you mention eventually having a video to show a method for lining up the dowel holes. We're trying to do a better job on our baseboards, so we vote for that video if it's in the running for a near future one! Regardless, thank you again for all your great carpentry and video work!

Hum On the show molding I use a belt sander the front roller works perfectly. On crown or large base grinder with flapper disc. As a self employed finish carpenter 8 have find fast means to get the project done. I watch others to learn better ad more efficient methods

I’ve always wondered if there were a better alternative to scarf joints on long runs of base moulding. I dig the dowels and butt joint method! Gonna have to try that when I come across that.

Wow, you've got such good control of the jig saw. I don't know how you get the blade to bite, and cut straight when you start against the edge of the board like that

Anyone else pocket screw baseboard together when possible? Started doing it recently and love the results
@PabloEskimofo

Sounds like a sturdy joint! Do you bother filling in the pocket holes with dowels to strengthen the joint in case of somebody hitting it just right, or don’t bother?
@samgriffin6221
@samgriffin6221 2 жыл бұрын
@@PabloEskimofo I don’t bother but you could. I CA glue the joint first on a flat surface (mainly work with MDF) then screw together. Joint is strong and once painted, you can’t see it

This would have saved a lot of no more gaps when I did mine a few years back 🤣 question on the pressure fit copes, what happens when the timber expands? Do you have issues with bases popping off?

Just bought a dw716 and I’m having trouble with the fence. The one piece part is straight and square to the table, however the sliding fences are not square to the table and also somewhat out of plane with each other. Is this something that I can correct by putting wood auxiliary fences on or should I send the saw back?

Great tutorial. I have a few questions. What if you're using mdf and need to do a scarf joint? Is it easy to insert dowels into mdf? If not and you have no choice but to do a 45 cut to add two large pieces together, what if the clearance is too small for the tall baseboard and you can't cut the board vertically?
