This video series features the complete restoration of a 1972 CL350 Honda Scrambler motorcycle. The videos should help anyone whether working on a cafe racer build or a full-on original restoration. I'm definitely not an expert so please refer to your manuals for proper disassembly and assembly instructions. Please leave comments if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help answer questions if I can confidently provide solutions. Again, I'm not a professional. This is my 2nd Honda motorcycle restoration and I'm learning every single day. I'd love to hear your tips if you have better ways to do things. I hope you find the series useful and entertaining. I strive to show as much detail as possible so that the videos can be used as not only a how-to resource but also a reference for the placement and original set up of parts and systems.
If you don't have one already please get a manual for your specific project. There are many available online for download for free. Common Motor Collective, from which I source many of my replacement parts, has a fantastic resource on their website: bit.ly/CBManuals You can also join groups on Facebook and get involved in the community.
Keep on wrenching, Friends! b

I just want to say, I know you aren't getting a TON of views on each vid, but just know they are helpful. There are some of us out there that are planning on restoring, or are currently restoring bikes... and these videos may not be relevant at this moment, but come in real handy down the road. So cheers!!

Thanks, Jeremy. I appreciate it. Not too concerned about the number of views. It makes my day when someone discovers a vid that solves a question. So glad they are helping.

I really enjoyed the shock wave installation Brian. It was the video I was waiting for. To see how it was done.

Just need to wire it up. Common Motor’s video is the best though. Much more detailed. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Greg. I almost didn’t do one for it because of how great the CMC one is. Glad I did though!

Do you have a video of wiring up new coils and condensers? I thought I watched one but can’t find it. Trying to sort through the wire colors of the aftermarket coils I purchased they’re not the same as the OEM. What are the differences in them blue vs. green/yellow stripe etc? Thanks as always.

The coils can be the same. I think stock each one had a different color wire. The set I purchased had blue wires only. Just make sure you follow the wires closely so the l coil goes left side etc. you’re right. I don’t see a video about installing the coils. I was doing a ton of uploads that day I wonder if I missed it. Huh. I’ll do a video once I get to that point in the latest build.

Elaborate? Is it turning over and not firing? If so, the timing advance is 180 degrees off. Flip it over 180 degrees and it’ll go. Sadly, you’ll have to basically start over. It’s a common thing. Now if it is something else, please elaborate.

Hi Brian What difference does it make to use this compared to the mechanical one?
@KeepOnWrenching
@KeepOnWrenching 3 жыл бұрын
Once it is set it’s done. The original points need constant attention and those parts are getting pretty hard to find. The electronic ignition is set it and forget it.

Cool. Asking because on my Kawasaki kz550 '81 I have a small problem with vague sparks on the plugs. I have changed plugs, coils and checked all the wiring, but with no change it the spark. I didn't check into this, so had the idea that it maybe could help to change from the mechanical one. Do you know if it would have any effect on making a stronger spark?

Upgrading to this helped solve a few issues I was having with my first bike. You could try clean the exiting points but most are upgrading to electronic from what I’m seeing.
