Installing ultra-thin recessed 9W LED lights on my house exterior soffit. This adds additional security for the front of the house as well as provides good work light for doing car stuff in the driveway at night.
These are the color selectable LED lights from Amazon. They are ultra-slim LED with remote driver. The color is selectable with switch on driver from 3000K/4000K/5000K.
Ensenior 16-Pack 4-Inch Thin LED - amzn.to/3yweNrm
Hole Saw Bit Kit 23-Piece - amzn.to/47hrIP1
Heyco Trade 1/2" Bushing - amzn.to/37q4IAj
It was too bright so I ended up getting this Lutron Caseta line voltage dimmer to control output: amzn.to/3n1VdQm
I also use this Leviton Z-wave dimmer on the second circuit for the front windows: amzn.to/3C8kQDC

Stumbled upon this video since I'm doing my own research for this exact job at home, have a very good idea to start off as I'm very comfortable with Electrical work of all sorts, however the tips are invaluable price of romex at Walmart, and a real world sample of how many lights is enough and how many is too much. Earned a new sub bro, thanks for this video full of insight.

Thanks. The romex actually caught up at Walmart. It's like $21/25ft now. Which is still cheaper than HD or Lowe's. If you find armor flex 14/2 for cheaper, that might be a better value.

It’s the global copper costs. The mfg realized people will still pay the price especially in small lengths. When you get into professional sizes 250-ft rolls, price is closer to “normal” vs 25-ft. TBH the old price is $8/25-ft was too cheap.

Amazing video Binh. I actually ordered the same exact light and was looking for some tips on spacing - and came across your video. I have the exact same garage setup. Would you recommend 2 downlights over small door and 3 over big door…4 feet apart? Also your 4ft light should have a output of 750 Lumens correct? Not 1100 Lumens…

@PutPup
@PutPup Жыл бұрын
I get that. We just are living in different lighting situations. Didn't mean to offend you or anything. I just can't stand the street light in front of our house since they had a request to install an LED bulb. We and all neighbors have 2 - 3 LEDs on our garages and porches so with the older style street light bulb that was more than enough to light us up more than needed. I enjoy watching the night stars, satellites, or whatever else may be in the skies at night but since they installed the LED street light it gives off so much light pollution that you can barely see a star or 2 on a clear night and it casts so much white light that even with the heavy wooden blinds in our house it still shines into the bedrooms, etc and gets annoying. The neighbors in the rest of the subdivision do not have the LED headache. The neighbor that requested the LED complained about their safety even though our end of the street was moré than well lit with all the LED porch and garage lights and the old street light. I suggested they buy a firearm and get proper training if they were that concerned over their safety. (Note: we live in an extremely low crime area with a high percentage of firearm owners. Imagine that? High gun ownership - low low low crime rate!)
