..the POV action sometimes veered off center, which you don't have much control over when you have your hands full working on the roof, but it did give a closer detailed look at the work when centered, which is a good thing.

First video I’ve seen on this channel. This gentleman is an excellent teacher. The best teachers can share wisdom from experience that just makes things easier; which he does. Some things are common sense but still should be taught like how to put nails in your pouch, long chalk lines sag and don’t get your glue strips covered in gravel… these rules you often don’t know until you’ve experienced the resulting headache that follows. Good work, sir. I appreciate the detailed video.

I liked it for the most part besides two thing. The drip edge on the eve should be the one to get that folded tab and the rake needs cut to fit perfectly and make a pretty point on the bottom when they meet . And the nails on the pipeboot should never have exposed nails don’t shoot the bottom just the top and sides

@@TheExcellentLaborer I do consider myself somewhat handy (if not handsome 🙂) but tell me this, do you do your own plumbing? There is that notion of "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself..." and then there's the notion of you don't know what the f you're talking about. I'm gonna try the steel roof that just blew off my carport (after 70mph winds and >20 years) before I consider what to do about the double shingled roof on my house. Great vid, and God Bless the internet!

Easily a 9.5/10 video. Awesome production with a few tricks new to me. My only concerns/recommendations: - A brief discussion on why pinching underlayment under the rake metal but hanging over the fascia metal would have been nice; I've had senior installers train BOTH ways, with one yelling at me for NOT pinching underlayment under fascia metal for fear wind will eventually lift up that first run of underlayment/starters and get at the deck - a fear that is clearly eliminated by using butyl-backed (sticky) ice-and-water barrier for your first run anyway. Obviously standard underlayment falling over the fascia metal ensures moisture weeping does not fall behind the fascia wood, right? - Nails securing your T-metal should have been completely hidden by the ice and water underlayment, no? And if I'm understanding right the outer fascia will also be attached by another run of nails through your T-metal. Shouldn't your ice-and-water barrier be installed to the farthest-most point of your T-metal to cover that eventual run of nails, too? - You used a T-style drip metal versus the more common L-style; it would be awesome if a pro of your nature - and ability to articulate - would make a damn good video covering different drip metals and how to cut them. - Fast shinglers like to use the guide on their coil nailers to space out their book and ensure they're shooting the correct line without thinking much. That would be cool to hear a brief mention of. - Not sure I heard mention of closed versus open soffits, and the importance of switching to a staple gun to avoid unsightly penetrations. Thank you for your effort!

I noticed you used drip edge instead of gutter apron where there would be a gutter. does it really matter? also on your starter set seams the nails seemed pretty close on some of the seams (1.5-2" on one forsure)....wouldn't you want ideally 6" to the nearest nail from a seam? my understanding is that the water will travel a good 4-5" on either side of a seam?

Excellent video. I noticed that the amount of rope that you have between the anchor and your back is far greater than the distance you would be falling if you were to fall off this particular roof, especially with the additional expanding 6 feet of the fall strap added into the equation. You might want to get a few more anchor points if you are doing another long roof like this so you can keep the yellow rope no longer than the length of the pitch of the roof. As you had it set up while you were working at the edge of the roof in the earlier part of the video, you'd hit the ground long before the rope would ever be able to save you...

You have produced the most comprehensive video on roofing! I just built a roof extension after following the dorm construction videos with valley framing and sheathing the videos saved me a tremendous about of time. Thanks!

I do try to put as much information in each video when I make one. I hate when I am trying to learn something right video in a small detail as important is left out. I appreciate you watching!
