How to Install Samsung Range and Gas Line (without dying!)

Today, I unbox a new Samsung Slide-In Range and replace my old Frigidaire with it. In this process, I show how I swap out my range and connect the new gas line (without dying). Install process was relatively straightforward, with thankfully no hiccups.

@@EdwardInTX so you CAN use the stove without electricity? I imagined the electricity is just for the computer/WiFi. I just want to confirm because I’m thinking about buying it and wanted to make sure.

@@xxgotiashleyxx correct, as long as your gas is still running. You'd need a separate lighter to light the gas though.

Thanks for the help. I did not see that tape hiding the gas in and thought I was supposed to use the little one and I was getting really stressed out. I knew it had to be simple thank you so much

Great video. I'm getting the exact model installed Monday. Just fyi.....Most local codes require a gas shutoff valve where the gas line exits the wall.

You’re supposed to run the oven for 1 hour at 400degrees to burn off the shipping enamel.

Not to be rude, but the installation instructions say,"DO NOT OVERWRAP TEFLON TAPE IT MAY CRACK THE GAS REGULATOR" We used blue goo made for natural gas. Make sure flame is blue; not red orange or yellow. Otw. You nedd to adjust some stuff. CO2 will be your silent killer.

I noticed you applied sealant when connecting adapter to oven, but not from gas line to adapter. Was this an oversight or is sealant not needed when connecting gas line to adapter? I'm asking because I'm about to install oven soon.

Correct, it's not needed. This was a recurring recommendation I've seen in numerous other videos, and by a plumber. Everything is still hooked up and fine to this day.

if you notice the adapter has a flared end. the flared end is what seals onto the line. You should not use or need tape/dope on that part. thats the point of the flare, to make the seal

@weshughes4575 Probably not. The flared fittings are compression fittings, and I suppose having Teflon between the two fitting surfaces might even help seal better.

The description on the website says it does not come with a power cord. Did you have to install the power cord separately?

Just received this stove today and followed your instructions. No bubbles. All things working great. One worry. My house smells terrible after I ran the oven to see if I smelled anything. More like a burning smell did you have the same?

Yes, I did experience that too for a bit (burn, non-gas smell). Went away afterwards.

that is the regulator. u can unscrew and flip it around to go between propane and natural gas.

Does this range take a 15 amp outlet? What size breaker is it on?

A typical gas range works on a standard 15 amp circuit breaker. There may be some dual ovens or ovens with a lot of bells & whistles that require a 20 amp circuit, so it's best to check the mfg requirements when selecting.

under the cap is a needle valve, its a closed systm for adujstment only

I just had my installed and it is sticking out of the wall about 2 inches. He said because of the water line..? which is actually against the wall. Should this be pushed up against the back wall? The gap is horrible looking.

Yes--in your case, you'd have to put a gap filler like a piece of wood overlayed with some tile

@@pennyarizzio2824 all depends on where your gas line exits the wall or floor and the configeration of the space behind the stove at floor level, will vary from one stove to the next

Isn’t the sealant supposed to be Yellow for gas?

Blue monster is blue but madee for lp natural and other petroleum installations, but yes. Yellow teflon is for gas, if using teflon.

FYI great question. yes yellow is gas. HOWEVER instructions say DO NOT USE TAPE because the fittings are a tight clearance and tape will cause Female fitting to expand and crack. Samsung says to use Paste sealant

My son did the connection and now we smell gas. He couldn't see a leak anywhere . He is very stressed out about it. I will have to pay someone to figure it out. He didn't turn on the gas burners like you did. I told him that he should do that to let the gas run through the lines but, he was afraid to do it because he hooked it up and let it sit and there is a strong smell of gas which indicates there is a leak.

Usually should be around the connections. Check with more soapy water.
