FYI for those finding this now, you DO NOT use pipe dope on a flare fitting. It can interfere with the fitting seating properly and actually cause a leak. I can see in this video he did use it on that fitting as well but didn't mention it. Don't use it, its designed to be used without tape or dope.

Just a note there are three types of adapters in different sizes that allow you to connect your gas line to stove/oven. For example, the newer yellow gas line has its own adapter it comes with BUT you need to change your gas line stem/cap- it will not connect . The old silver gas line as shown in the video has its own adapter which you can buy to attach your NEW stove. Go to your Home Depot and they will find the right piece it’s $5-6. So you don’t need to change your gas stem/switch line.

Just curious did you also have the shut off valve for the gas behind your stove? Ty

Yes. The gas valve to the gas line was directly on the other side of the wall. The location of the valve is not as important as having the stove line properly hooked up to the gas line.

Thank you for your great assistance video. Only issue was the gas piping adapter. Lowes only carried 1/2"-1/2" or 3/4"-3/4"; and, my existing line was 3/4" with the stove having a 1/2". needed a 3/4"-1/2" adapter. Before viewing your video, I tried to remove the adapter from my 18+ year old slide-in range and couldn't get it to budge. After viewing your video and finding the problem at Lowes, I returned home and tried to remove it again. Since the oven ignitor had outlived its life, I exerted enough pressure to get it off. Cleaned the adapter and reinstalled. Worked perfectly thanks to your video assistance.

You made a mistake as careful as your were. After you shut off the gas line you need to open up the valve to the stove and let it spark and burn off and or let the gas escape from anything that's left in the line.
@dtxgmoney2 күн бұрын
This seems like it would be common sense. 😊

Thank you. That was very clear and simple. There were two steps that were implied, but not explicitly shown: attaching the hose to the adapter on the stove, and attaching it to the valve on the wall. It's not a big deal, but installing a gas line is a little anxiety producing, so the more steps shown the better.

Overall a good how-to video. However, I would have replaced the old flexible line with a new flexible line...but I would have also made sure that the new line didn't get all twisted and kinked when I tightening the fitting. Also...since it was demonstrated using two wrenches to loosen the fittings when removing the old line...why weren't two wrenches used when attaching the new line?!? Personally this is more important because you don't want to put unnecessary torque on your new stove's regulator or other gas line parts. That's kind of inconsistent.
