So the product is foam and foil combined? I just watched another one of your videos and it was very educational as was this one. How thick is this product and what is the r value of it? I learned from your last video that the radiant barrier needs air space to have a good value. What would be the best method for keeping a non airconditioned metal building cool? You alluded in this video that this may not be the best method, but a very good one. I am located in Dallas Texas and want to insulate my car detailing studio that is 18x25 with 9 foot sides and a vertical roof. Thank you.

It really depends. If you ONLY want to reflect heat (shad effect) then www.AtticFoil.com is all you need. If you are concerned about condensation inside the building then this is what the www.BlueTexInsulation.com products are for. They are a vapor barrier AND a radiant barrier. Or, if you doing a semi-conditioned building (occasional heating/cooling). Unless you are doing a fully conditioned building (like a house) r-value does not matter. R-value info is on the website under FAQ. Feel free to call the office if you have more questions. We offer a nice local discount on the BlueTex products since we save on shipping. We also have some new pics from customers with your exact type building showing the BlueTex installed.

Nice! I've been doing my homework on minimal insulation/vapor barrier methods for metal buildings and this makes the most sense to me. If the garage door was the track style instead of a roll-up it would be a no brainer on how to continue the Blue Tex there, but since it isnt, I'd like to know If you have a solution for that type of roll up door.

I saw what you did for the angle braces on the walls, but what did you do on the roof? Did you do the same thing or something else?
@AtticFoil
@AtticFoil 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. You can go either way. Either on the bottom of the flat center bracing or do the same thing as the corner bracing. The effectiveness is the same, it's really just how you want the interior to look. Many times there are a lot of lights/fans etc attached to these so it's easier to do the same method as corner braces.

What if you are going to attach osb to the finished wall? Won’t that destroy the integrity of the insulation?
@AtticFoil
@AtticFoil Жыл бұрын
No problem at all. The foil side will face the airpace. You can apply OSB, drywall, paneling etc. on the white side if you want to.

Could this be used in a van? Want to have the best insulation without eating too much living space inside. Thank you!

This works perfect for van and bus conversions and we have had several people do it. The best way is to use 1/4" or 1/2" foam board and cut strips/pieces etc and glue on the metal and then apply the BlueTex. This will maintain the required airspace for the foil to reflect heat. Contact us. I'd love some pictures of the install process and would give you a rebate for your efforts. www.BlueTexInsulation.com

If the Bluetex is in contact with the metal tubing for securing it, doesn't that surface still cause a line of cold air/moisture build up, when trying to heat it in the winter?
@AtticFoil

Yes, you have to connect www.BlueTexInsualation.com to something. But, it's like a can Koozie. The foam insulation should keep the interior surface above the dew point to eliminate condensation.

Is this product paintable?
@AtticFoil
@AtticFoil Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's paintable. www.BlueTexInsulation.com Only paint the white side. If you paint the foil side it will lose the reflectivity or ability to reflect radiant heat.

Why not hang the insulation on the outside of the building frame,tape to seal, then hang metal siding over the insulation boards...

It sure reduces the labor of installing afterwards....minutes, not hours or days. Pass the savings on to the customer and still make a profit... at least a third invest a little extra...when you explain the time and cost of installing later.
