Clear and informative tutorial on how to cut a mason's mitre on worktops. The 9mm offset was particularly well explained. Probably not necessary on the joint you made, as there was enough of an overhang on the other end. That said, excellent video. Thanks for sharing.👍

A word of warning. Many manufacturers of wooden worktops specifically state that you shouldn't join the worktops using a mason's mitre but should butt joint them instead. So check before you router away,

I love the look of this, I'm building a maple worktop for my kitchen and was wondering how this sort of joint handles wood expansion.

Great video but why not use biscuits for the joints can be alot easier sometimes i found myself messing about with the joint to much without biscuits but find a whole lot easier with them. Keep up the great work love the videos

Very informative! One question though, I dont have a 1/2in router but a 1/4in and no router bushing. Could I still use the jig with a bearing bit, or should I just use a different method for joining worktops?

Hi, great video, very easy to understand, but could you explain please, How do you ensure the masons mitre joint is water proof, is that down to the glue you use?

I have a question, why do you cut the join’s staggered like that & not straight? I am honestly curious. 🤔
@homeimprovements
@homeimprovements 10 ай бұрын
Do you mean why the masons mitre and not a butt joint ? If so it’s mainly used on bullnose tops allows for a seamless joint square edge like this it’s not necessary but we used it to demonstrate the process 😊
