Thanks so much for this! I felt like I was knitting this stitch incorrectly but couldn't find any info on whether or not you pick up the stitch on the needle. As others have said, thank you for mentioning that and showing the back of your work in the video! Will definitely check out more of your videos. :)

*All* of the other videos I watched that teach Knit Below showed you how to do it after a row of rib stitching, which is a different technique. I needed to do a row with Knit Below stitches after a row of all knit, and this was the only one that helped me out! Thank you so much.

The explaining of k1b in the patterns I've seen has said to slip the top stitch off, NOT knit it together with the stitch below. Other videos have also shown this method. It's seems like maybe this is a variation of k1b or a slightly different stitch?
@madelineheeley9711
@madelineheeley9711 5 ай бұрын
She is knitting one below into a PURL stitch. But in any case, you would knit into the hole just below the stitch on the needle and then slip the whole thing off the left needle. You wouldn't slip the stitch already on the left needle off separately because then you'd have an EXTRA stitch.

Cool. To clarify, you are showing a knit one below into a PURL stitch. You should add a quick few seconds to show a k1b into a knit stitch as well. (although people don't seem to be bothered or notice, so idk) :)

Hi, I'm a beginner knitter. I was wondering on most videos teaching the K1B they say to drop the loop on the needle. Yet, on your video you say to knit the 1 below and to still catch the loop on the needle. Is this personal preference or is this a different look.

Your videos are very helpful and you move at a great pace. What does k1 all by itself mean in knitting instructions? Is it just knit one stitch? I ask because I'm knitting gloves and the instructions are like k1 pl (or sl m) then m1r

It's very complicated when you have to do this with a new color. Maybe the way you do it is the thing i was searching for. However the pattern say k1, m1, k4. In your video it would be like k1,m1 together ? And m1 must be done with the stich below (as in the video) but in the back of the stich. Is it something different ? (Like the way the needle is put in the stich).

Is there some other technique that resembles this but without knitting the main stitch (the one on the needle)? Because I tried this and had to tink, it seemed to result in extra stitches. I just googled "Knit below"
@Jayadancer1
@Jayadancer1 7 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your videos, especially did so when I was a beginning knitter. With every respect, no one else on youtube or anywhere else that I've been able to find shows a knit one below this way. Others show inserting the needle into the stitch below but NOT including the stitch on the needle simultaneously. Perhaps your demo will mislead new knitters.
@MChristinaTD
@MChristinaTD 5 жыл бұрын
Jayadancer1 same, I was confused why this one was different from all the other videos demonstrating k1b. I think the others show the previous row was a knit as well, whereas this video looks like the previous row was a purl. I could be wrong, I was hoping for clarification.
