This is the bind off that I like to use on many of my shawls, crescent shaped ones especially. It is stretchy but also stable.

Working on my first cresent shawl from your other video! Thanks sooo much for showing the rh version too! I'm still new at this and sometimes watching continental demos gets really tricky visually since I'm not very good at it yet!

Barbara, Thank You so much! I absolutely agree that this is a perfect Bind Off for Shawls and you can definitely see that the beautiful curve of the crescent shawl will block evenly and with some structure as you pointed out! Great video!

This would also be a good replacement for the standard bind-off when you want just a bit more stretch. Good tutorial. Thanks :)

Yes! But keep in mind it adds a bit of thickness/height to the b/o.

OMG Barbara, I look like that too when I try to knit non-continental. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in that endeavor. Love that Fractured Helix in the background. Mine is coming along. Had to pause working on it to watch your video. It was great. Thank you for taking the time to show us.

I’m just finishing up your easy crescent shawl (my very first knitting project!) and am doing this bind off…kinda sorta. I’m a crocheter and this bind off is super easy to do with a crochet hook. Thanks for the confidence boosting start to my knitting journey!

As a thrower,if you hold your yarn between your thumb and pointer finger it works..I'll try this bind off.thx👍

You can also switch to a corresponding crochet hook and chain one, yarn over, pull thru two and repeat

victoria daigle Thay sounds very interesting, I’ll have to try it, but it’s been my experience that if I say to use a crochet hook a large percentage of knitters will pass on the pattern lol.

So excited to try this when I bind off tomorrow. The stretchy bindoffs are always too flimsy for me and sewn always fights me in the blocking.

What is the brand of knitting needles you are using in this demo? Looks like Signature needles.

Hi! Those are actually Susan Bates needles. Honestly, I don't particularly care for them so but they look great on camera. After figuring out that I like the way these look on camera I found some much better needles that have a similar look and they are Zings from Knitters Pride. amzn.to/2thtdOP
