Most singers think they are belting correctly until they are in the presence of a singer who really knows how to belt. The contrast will BLOW YOU AWAY! @laurenbabic shows us and explains the difference between not belting and true belting!

Ive been down the rabbit hole in vocals these days. Trying to put everything together and strengthen my singing. Its crazy how it never ends its just journey. But growing growls and gutteral vocals has to be the hardest. The irony is the more i train that side of my voice the better my cleans feel and sound and my transitions evolve. It's really crazy all of it

I’m gonna be real, I started watching shorts before she screamed, “hey neighbor” so when I came back and barely heard what she said my heart dropped.

The poopy H is an amazing cue. It helped understand just how high the volume is. I had the idea that was somewhat like yelling, but it seems that it is pretty much specifically yelling? I've conditioned myself to be rather quiet, so I just _cannot_ yell. But yesterday I enclosed myself in the bathroom and sang my first fully-belted out note ever thanks to this cue which told me that well, maybe it's not only OK but I _need_ to be loud. Scared myself to death but it sounded amazing! Like the opening of Circle of Life from The Lion King, but for only literally 0.7 seconds. I guess today I'm gonna try to yell more, hopefully this time more than once.

Nice those Belting Not Belting titles, it would be very nice to choose a famous song and write on it "Belting - Not belting - Head Voice - Mixed voice". I think it would really get people interrested ! I know i will !

Another great video, Chris. 👍 Just wanted to give you a heads up that when you edited the video to flip the image of Lauren (when she switches between belting & non-belting) it makes it more difficult to track what her mouth is doing. Appreciate all the work you've done & continue to do for vocalists 🙏

i have came here to ask you to please, on behalf of Scotland & lovers of music, to cover Paolo Nutini's voice. I think youd appreciate his heart that comes through, the power of his voice and just the beauty of his songwriting. Recommend Rewind, Candy, Iron Sky for a quick tour of his range Love your work Chris 💪

Chris I am a member of your course and a huge fan. I think you have found a way to teach aggressive singing that surpasses everything else out there. I have a request. I would like you to do a an exploratory video on Sammy Hagar's voice . Forget about that other singing cousin. Sammy has one of the most unique sounds and ranges that I've ever heard. Is this this learnable, or just natural? Please explore, and if you do a big thanks!

Hey Chris, I have a question. I’m a cleft patient with a monotone voice, and a songwriter for as long as I can remember. I have been wanting to learn vocals but realize my monotone voice stands in the way, and airflow is a huge issue due to air escaping as I inhale, do you think I should hang up the coat on the vocals idea?

Hello Chris I'v been watching your videos since 2020 and i i like everything you make, now i was listening to Michael Bolton's hit song and i thought how great would be to see your 'how to sing like' video about him. By the way i am a huge fun of Chris Cornell and i think Bolton and him have so many interesting similarities..

I've been wandering around vocal technique channels for years, and I've yet to find one that explains as simply and accurately as you do. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel! Thanks to you, I can make my voice raspier without hurting myself, so your distortion videos are pure gold! I don't know if you'll ever have time, but I've been trying to understand and develop this type of distortion. It would be absolutely wonderful if you could explain this growl/squall/rattle, whatever it is, in a future video. (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8tmibGWnbK-qIU.html lol don't mind the title, it's just a good clip to give the example, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7ddeberyNqwiXU.html this could do too)

I find the "starting H" tips a little misleading. By starting with an H, a beginner might do something like h h hHeeEEY (I mean by that starting not frankly enough and risk missing their belting). I was taught to avoid that H for this reason, and to belt by attacking right on the vowel, like the famous "EEEHOOO" by Freddy Mercury during his concert. But hey, everyone has its way to find their voice !

H provides a soft on set. This is great for dialing in your support because it is easier on your vocal cords! Hard insets can cause issues if you’re trying to belt or figure out that sensation. You can burn out your cords much more quickly

@@chrisliepe I heard the opposite explanation (and personnaly find it easier without the H), and either way one has to be properly warmed up to start searching for their belting notes. But in reality I'm not professionnal enough to know what's best by myself, I just repeat what my vocalist and my singing teacher taught me, and everyone can the way that siut themselves the best with time and sessions. By the way, thank you very much for your work, among the multiplicity of videos on the subject, you are the one who guided me to learn how to properly growl !
